This was the first time we have dined at a Ruth Chris Steak House. The building is not impressive from the outside. We were greeted & had the door opened for us by a a very nice young lady & once inside were treated as though we were royality by each staff member who served us. We had a total of 5 people, plus the manager, making sure we had everything we wanted & that we were happy with the food. Our waitress was so professional yet so warm & friendly at the same time. Kudos to Ruth Chris for their choice of employees. Once inside we were very impressed with both the decor & the atmosphere of the restaurant. It was very comfortable & relaxing, a perfect setting for enjoying a fine meal. The food was delicious & the presentation was exceptional ! Although the prices were "$$$" there are choices on the menu for a " three course meal" which fall in the $45 to $55 price category. My husband enjoyed the filet & especially the appetizer "ahi tuna", both superbly prepared, grilled asparagus & the fresh tomato salad with balsamic demi-glaze & chopped mozzrela. I did not chose an "entree", instead I ordered from the appetizer , soup, salad & sides selections. My choices were the french onion soup, the chopped salad (now among my favorites) , the sizzling shrimp (my all time favorite, it is addictive) the seafood tower (lobster, blue crab, King crab and shrimp), scalloped potatoes, & white chocolate banana cream pie. I'm from the New Orleans area, that being said, the crusty but very light warm bread loaf they serve is the best bread I have ever eaten. My husband had a beer & the Ruth Chris martini (again addictive). The martini had vodka, a liquor (can't remember which one) & spices such as rosemary that one would not expect in a cocktail. I had never tasted a martini before, now I understand why people enjoy them. It was a very unusual taste for me, but one I enjoyed. My only suggestion, like/dislike, would be my personal preference, of serving the seafood tower not as cold. I would have preferred it warmer. It seemed the cold kept the flavors from being fully enjoyed. Our bill without tip was $237.00. Expensive, yes, by our standards, however we plan on returning once every 6 months & on special occasions. A memorial dinning experience in every way. Thanks "Ruth Chis Steak House of Mobile, Al." for a delightful and thouroghly enjoyable evening & the most delicious food I ever tasted! ...
Read moreMy mother, my wife and myself attempted to have dinner her one evening. We approached the hostess for a table she stated there were no available tables but we could seat ourselves at the bar. We were heading into the bar area and the host stated there maybe an available table in the main dining area and asked us to wait. We watched two couples enter in after us both in denim attire and one in leggings; they were asked if they had reservations stated they did not and were shown to the bar. We were there in denim and leggings as well the host had looked at our attire and did not have an issue with the casual.
The hostess then was getting ready to take us to our table and the manager walked out and stated there were no available tables. We stated the hostess found a table and was in the process of seating us, how is there now not an available table? The manager stated that the hostess misunderstood the seating chart; we then said we will just go to the bar and be seated for dinner. The manager said she cannot allow that as we had on denim and athletic wear and then stated the bar was booked until 9pm.
Please remember two parties ahead of us were seated at the bar in similar attire and the hostess told us when we first walked in the bar was open seating availability. The manager a heavy set middle aged white woman cam off as not wanting to accommodate black patrons. She contradicted the very statements the hostess had made regarding attire and open bar seating.
I am sure Ruth Chris does not want this type of behavior associated with its brand. This woman needs to be addressed regarding her bias and unequal treatment of patrons. I am very disappointed in this exchange and will be writing to...
Read moreI’ve been to this Ruth Chris a few times and have treated parties as large as 8. Each time, service has consistently fallen below expectations.
The visit on 11/9 will be my last visit at this location. My 100+ dollar steak was way overcooked to the point I actually complained and I’m no complainer. If you look at my reviews I consistently provide positive reviews.
The final straw was when the assistant manager approached our table and asked how we were doing. I politely asked if we could get more bread. Well Mr Goody two shoes was very arrogant and sassy. It took asking 2 more times over the course of 30+ minutes to get our bread!!!
If you genuinely don’t care about your customers, don’t ask how the table is doing.
This level of customer service is unbecoming of any CSM and you sir should be fired. My mother worked management in fine dining for decades and never treated any customer the way you treated us. Because of your attitude, I will never come back to this restaurant nor invite my friends to come out with me here again.
We will be checking out Five Mobile next time. Where I hear they actually like and want to please their customers.
I will note that this review is in no reflection of the GM of this restaurant. She actually cares about the customers. But her underlings need refinement.
Shame on you Mr Cooper for allowing this kind of management on your team. It will eventually destroy your...
