Supporting your local businesses is a mantra my father drummed into my brother and I. Being a small business owner himself he knew the difficulty of trying to gain a footing in a competitive community and build a loyal clientele.
We read the Modesto Bee, track new restaurants and make a point to show our support. We have a very short list of expectations; good food, a clean dining space, and a customer-centric staff.
Mexihanas is not customer-centric. The menu is borderline expensive, offers no wiggle room to add or subtract ingredients to meet dietary requirements….and ….water is not included.

The spicy noodles stole the show with just the right amount of heat. Inside was so masterfully decorated with the perfect balance of history and cultural references. It was new and cool with such a great vibe. I also found out that it was a local family running it. The huge amount of pride for their work was demonstrated from start to finish of this experience… My only regret here was not taking pictures of the food to show everyone. Truth is that it was sooo good that it was gone...
