"A Ramen shop that doesn't know what it wants to be."
preface Though the food is decent ( though i was served questionable Shoyu Ramen) the service is.... weird, and lack any real management. It's a restaurant but the seating arrangements and ordering are that of a food court. Meaning, you don't sit down and get your order taken but you order in the front and THEN take a seat. This style works at a Mall, or an out door eatery, but at a small, cramped restaurant it simply unorginized. from the front of the desk to front door is about 10 or so feet. If a line starts to form, there is very little room to social distance so everyone starts to awkwardly stand in odd spots trying to figure out a line that zig zags. Say if the people in front of you have never been there before. They start their order but need 10 more minutes to go over the menu. While this is happening the people who already know what they want and are ready to pay are waiting being them while more and more people continue to enter the restaurant. On two occasions I ended up leaving and going somewhere else.
Food
The food though, is decent. Though the Shoyu I was served on an instance wasn't a clear broth. The tonkatsu could use a little more time in the boiler, and the char siu was "ok" at best. Their slices are on the thicker side, and not really "glazed". Spice is not destroyingly hot, but they do use Szechuan peppercorns in their chili oil, so if you're not a fan of Numby-Type chili, don't order it TOO spicy and finally Their Hawaiian varieties are not much different that what we already have here with Ono and LL.
Final Note: Why is there always k-pop on the tv? Though this place was called Ramen 101 not...

Staff was super friendly and accomidating for being a such a small location and how busy it was during dinner and the food was amazing as always and super super fast. Definitely recommend the black garlic ramen[picture added] and the Hawaiian bbq mix !!
Some times they don't have seating available but they do have a wait list you can be added on if you walk in. You just CAN NOT call in advance to reserve seating or tables. Definitely a first come first serve place.
Surprisingly!!!!.. for not being an actual restraunt (meaning no specified table servers or waiters/waitresses) [you order your own food pay and then they seat you like fast food restraunts] the Staff still takes care of you as much as possible. They try to engage with you and make sure your taken care of .
The flavor of the food is amazing and it comes out pretty quick. Your eyes Definitely will be bigger then your stomach. The portion of ramen is huge and always have left overs for later. The vibe of the place is always welcoming and chill Definitely a nice little hidden jem in modesto . A cool place to kick it with...
Read moreMe and my wife liked the Ramen hear. We had nothing bad to say about them. Until today. The Manager was very rude to a young employee. She had the poor girl in tears right in front of us with no shame that she was belittling her not professional at all. I don't know what the young lady had did to deserve this. But that's beside the point. And you can tell all the employees are scared of the Manager. You don't treat people like this. As much as we like the food we would have to think twice before we come hear again. That's too bad......... .... Update she responded by saying it was a professional conversation between her and the young lady and no one else. And the conversation was in the front of the restaurant loud enough for us to notice what was going on she had her crying. I don't think it was professional at all but I guess that's my opinion. I will not be going back after...
