I have never in my life written a review for a restaurant, but I found that I needed to go through the inconvenience of writing this review to tell others how horrible this place is. I went on Valentine’s Day with my girlfriend because it looked like a romantic place, they got the mood and the scenery correct and some of the food was good, but other than that everything else was bad. They started us off with tap water, which for a place that was charging $75 a person for a 5 course meal was very disappointing. Then they gave us bread to accompany the meal, the bread was awful, it wasn’t even toasted, it was just soft bread covered with olive oil and way too much salt. Also the whole menu was just a flash card with 3 options on the main course, and that all u had to choose from. The waitress was the worst part, she was rude and gave us really judging looks. She would also bring our courses really fast, like if she was rushing us to leave as soon as possible. Then the first course came, my girlfriend had some raviolis and they were really good. I had gotten a small piece of bread covered in beef and beet sauce. The bread tasted so bad, it tasted like what my dog smells like after I don’t wash him in a month. The second course was better, it was a potato soup with bacon bits on top. The thing is my girlfriend was trying to go for all of the vegetarian options and she did tell the waitress before hand. Then the waitress brought both of our soups with bacon and my girlfriend didn’t realize until after she had already had some. Luckily my girlfriend isn’t vegetarian but this mistake could have happened to someone who was. The third course was a drink, it was apple cider with berries at the bottom, u could see it had been sitting in there for a while because the berries were already disintegrating. At first she had offered us champagne instead of apple cider but she never asked us if we were over 21. But even that was awful, it was way too sweet and the flavor was gross. After this the main course was brought out, I had gotten the steak with mashed potatoes and my girlfriend had gotten the vegetarian lasagna. The steak I got was really good but the lasagna was bad, I tried some and it tasted like microwave lasagna. The dessert was the last course and I got some chocolate mousse thing, and it was good. My girlfriend got the crème brûlée and it was good but the caramelized sugar on top was way too thick and it tasted really burnt. The best part was the water boy, since he kept calling me “sir”. Other than that this place was awful, it’s overpriced and and most of the...
Read moreJust left Surla's... Saturday at 1pm. Had been standing at the podium/host stand since 1230p... We were there first (3 top), then a (6 top) showed up, then an (11 top) showed up, we watched this dirty blonde with a long ponytail SIT EVERYONE BEFORE US. And then, even after everyone had been seated, she continued to tell us it will "be a moment" and to continue to wait... EVEN THOUGH THERE WAS AN OPEN TABLE WITH 4 SEATS RIGHT IN FRONT OF US THAT HAD BEEN AVAILABLE FOR 10 MINS, WAYYYYY BEFORE THEY SAT THE 18 PEOPLE BEFORE US.
Did I mention... MY FAMILY OF 3 WERE THE ONLY ONES LEFT IN THE WAITING AREA!
The DISRESPECT was so PAINFULLY OBVIOUS, I had to point it out to the waitress that kept making eye contact with me, but continued to not help me.
She says it wasn't on purpose, I told her I understood that it's super busy, and that I get it, but WE WERE HERE FIRST and that table 15 feet away from us has been open for a while now. By now, my husband said he doesn't want anyone racist waiting on us because they might do something to our food, and left us to go wait in the car. And I hate to admit it, but at this point I have to say, I agree with him. I AM EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED IN SURLA! If the food is great, we will never know... BECAUSE THE SERVICE WAS TRASH. The food could have been so-so, but if the service was superb, I'd probably come back just for the people!
BUT POOR SERVICE, ESPECIALLY WHEN IT FEELS DISCRIMNATORY, IS UNACCEPTABLE. PERIOD.
I've never been treated so poorly at a restaurant before in my life. And now I'm sitting here trying to "soft" explain what just happened to our 13 year old daughter, because she's confused as to what just happened. All I know is SURLA just lost a very generous customer.
JUST ASK CAL, THE MANAGER AT GALETTO'S. and trust me when I say... the only reason, AND I MEAN THE ONLY REASON - WE WERE AT SURLA'S IN THE FIRST PLACE, IS BECAUSE GALETTO'S IS CLOSED...
Read moreWent for Valentine’s Day evening. Waited 45 minutes for a table, even though we had a reservations, but we’re flexible because we’re restaurant people and I understand. The lobster bisque that came in a shot. Glass was very underwhelming perhaps if they had a little piece of lobster on top maybe a dollop of crème fraîche or something. Completely pedestrian. The subpar salad. Boring mix greens and a champagne vinaigrette. Not imaginative at all and then two prawns….. small prawns. I do not believe these prawns were made to order. They were premade before the evening started. We were then not served our third course. We just went straight in to our fourth course a filet mignon. How to ask our server if we could have our third course. She then said you actually want that. Yes we want that. Although that was underwhelming as well a little baby scoop of sorbet with a half a glass of sparkling wine. Although it says champagne on the prefix menu. Anyone that knows if it’s something from champagne is from the champagne region. Sparkling wine they misrepresented themselves. Then when they brought back out our filet mignon again. Our server informed us that she kept it warm for us, why would we want that so a medium rare medium food could go to medium well to well done. Why were we not giving fresh food after they screwed up our third course? Then our crème brûlée and if anyone knows that or crème brûlée is, there’s crystallized and caramelized sugar on top. We did not have that we just had a big bowl of mush. Between the bar dinner and spent $308. What a waste of my goddamn money. Would’ve gone to Raw, which is phenomenal. Would’ve been happy to spend a $400 there. Only reason didn’t go is because my son who has learned to have a good taste from his parents went there. We went to this crappy restaurant I will never go again and will tell anyone that asked...
