Taqueria Mis Compadres — Restaurant in Modesto

I only put 1 star cause I cant put zero! The compadres restaurant chain has gone to the dogs! I walked in at 9:15pm and stood in line for almost 10 minutes, mind you it took that long for two dinner parties ahead of me to order. Before I spoke one word to order, the lady taking orders stated they are closing at 10. We knew that because my family and I eat at all the compadres restaurants in area all the time. When we finished ordering the food, she told us very rudely we have to take it to go! Then we said we came to dine there like we always did. She then gave a dirty look and said you have 5 minutes to eat, we close at 10. We just said sure, just to please her, and went about sitting at the table and getting salsa from the bar. As I was waiting in the line for the salsa bar. The younger kid bussing tables starts complaining that he had been working 18 days straight and wanted to go home. I'm pretty sure he was hinting to hurry up and not worried about conversation. Then back at the table he brings are food and again we are in formed we have 5 minutes to eat and they close at ten. It took 25 minutes total to wait in line,order, and finally get are food, and yet again we, the customer are being told to hurry! What kind of a buisness tells the customer hurry up, and expects the customer to have a good experience and come back! This is just the icing on the cake! They're food at all the compadres restaurants use to be awesome, but that's not the case anymore for the past 6 months to a year. Nothing I order taste good anymore, and the staff at these locations(mainly riverbank and the sylvan and oakdale locations, as I haven't been to the roseburg location in quite sometime) are rude and more bitter then the food! To sum it up... it's SAD!!! The compadres taquerias were my favorite restaurants. Not anymore! And I wont be returning again! Apologies to the owner, but something needs to be done...

Used to be one of my favorite place till last night. Went to have dinner with the family. Ordered the usual. Soon as food got there, something didn't smell good. Checked my food it was good. But the kids nachos and the wife's enchilada plates didn't. The beans smelt sour. Thinking it was the cheese, my wife started to eat. First bite she about puked. Went up to tell the staff. They tried saying nothing is wrong with beans. But they grabbed the container of beans very quickly removed it. Maggie helped us out and made us new plates with whole beans instead of refried. Everything was ok till my daughter grabs a nacho and finds a hair in it. We were done after that. Told staff and was told by Maggie I'll give you money back. Then she gets on the phone calls the owner, owner said they couldn't do anything since they had already replaced food. Mind you we didn't eat any of the second plate of food. Wife asked to talk to manager and they try and give her the sorry we dont speak English. I go up there and talk to them ( I'm fluent in spanish) then all of a sudden they speak English. They took my number down and said you'll hear from owner. We left. Never again will I go eat there. Hope no one gets sick from those beans. Pics are from yesterday's food...

Our Family used to frequent the restaurant at this site often. So craving some Mexican food, I asked my daughter where we should dine. Hmm. New layout, kitchen now hidden, new menu, no display of items at counter,new cook, and staff. My daughter ordered her favorite a super type burrito ( new name on menu), nor longer a favorite (4 out of 10 she said) and I, a combination plate containing a taco, enchilada and chile relleno. All chicken with their "green sauce". The chicken was "Desert" dry, way overcooked or had been left in the pan for hours. It tasted old and unpleasant. the same with the enchilada. The chile relleno, was "off", sort of sweet, and not hot, and the rice dry and unfavorable. Sad, but newer look and menu did not equate to better food. Very sad and unexpected. With so many local excellent Mexican Restaurants in the area, I recommend by passing this one. Left a good tip for the server, who was excellent, but we will not ever dine at this "restaurant" again.
