Restaurante El Mariachi — Restaurant in Moline

Today, I bought the buffet so I could eat as many tacos as I could for a good price. But I am reviewing based on many experiences there. Service is always good. Many of the staff know me by name and have my order memorized. They cater at a place I was laid off from and even when ordering there I didn't have to specify what I wanted. The food is hit or miss. When it is good I can eat so much I end up paying for it later. Those times the meat is a bit on the greasy and seasoned side but in a good way. When it is not good the meat is dry and often bland as well. I would say 2 or 3 times out of 5 times I go there it is the good meat. To give them some credit, I used to work 3rd shift so I would show up about 45 minutes before closing some of the time and 1 to 3 hours before close other times. Disappointed in them. Won"t be ordering to go food for a looooong time. Told order ready in 25 min. got there and waited 25 min., order not started. Asked for no lettuce on enchiladas but yes to cheese. Got them home no cheese but they had lettuce. And I ordered chorizo & potato. Not a spec of chorizo maybe they only flavor potatoes by cooking in chorizo grease, not sure. Also I have seen cigars fatter than their enchiladas. If you raise prices due to your prices going up don't cheat customers by your stingy portions. Oh yeah also asked for hot sauce, yep no hot sauce in bag. And to top it off person was even given a tip. So if/when I come back here, I will be sure to check my to go orders before I walk out the door from now on. Just like drive thru they don't care, just put it in a bag because customer won't notice til they get home and know customer more than likely won't come back in after...

This place used to be amazing, I'd come here all the time, tacos were always good, service was always nice. But tonight was probably the worst experience with this place, made an order over phone, two orders of steak tacos I asked no onion and then an order of chips and beans. I picked up order went home to find both orders covered in onion, my significant other called and the guy working tried to argue over phone, I went to go pick up the corrected order and the guy started arguing with me about what I ordered when I specifically asked no onions first. I was half tempted to ask for money back and find different place if it wasn't so late.. I feel bad for anyone who has to make two trips and feel like it's their fault when it was the person taking order that can't listen...
