After seated by hostess waited 18 minutes to finally see waitress. We ordered drinks and were asked if we'd like to see a menu. Replied that we didn't think so. She said she'd leave them in case we decided we wanted something... Took another annoying 15 minutes to get a draft & regular drink.
Then waitress just stood next to us for an extended time. Upon the 3rd sip of beer the other person in my party asked waitress if he could 'help' her. She stated she was 'waiting for our food order'. We were informed at this time that we MUST make a food purchase to order 'drinks' -(part of covid regulations).
I asked if they had a 'bar' menu or offerings to people to meet this new regulation. Was told no.
I'm thinking the appropriate time to tell someone this is BEFORE the beverage order- certainly prior to the delivery of said beverage! Upon looking at menu there was NOTHING that was inexpensive or not overpriced - chips $4, fries $7, soup $6.â”â° & up...
--hello on a brew tour not out to eat--
Which WAS made clear to the hostess b4 being seated. There were a number of opportunities to make policy on food & drink orders known to us prior to being held captive to order something not wanted at an extremely overpriced rate. I did explain this to a manager & suggested they make this clear to people. I also mentioned other places had small food items or special priced things & were CLEAR about ordering OR paying for small food item to meet new regulations at which time I was told waitress should have offered something to us but didn't. It was unclear what that was or might have been as even then it wasn't offered to us. We were simple told it existed.
Best part of stop was that growlers offered at half price the day (Monday) we were there. The other person in party took advantage of that.
I don't know I'll ever go there again...
Read moreIâve been to this restaurant before with my family and loved the food. I went back again with my father and my brother, who has a dietary restriction. Because of this dietary restriction he brought his own food. We have been to many restaurants doing this and have never ran into any issues. We understand the loss of food sales, and always tip the server extra over the normal 20% to compensate, as the vast majority of my family has extensive experience in the food service industry. We ordered our drinks, 2 sodas and a water, and when the waitress came to take our order, my father and I ordered what we wanted. When she got to my brother, my father explained he had brought his own food. Instead of accepting this, the waitress scoffed and asked why. I interjected to say that he has a special diet. She rolled her eyes and annoyedly said âokayâ. My father looked at me, then at her and said âI donât really like that,â in reference to her tone. He then suggested we take our business elsewhere. She immediately got defensive and started quickly saying âIâve just never seen that before,â but at this point we were appalled by the service. Once she left the table, we got up and my dad requested to speak to the manager, who was made aware of the situation. I took my brother back to the car and we ended up going to the nearby Applebees for lunch, who didnât have a single problem with my brother having his own food. Once again, I have loved the food there and the service last time was excellent, but this experience left a bad taste in my mouth. I suggest this member of staff undergo corrective hospitality training if she is to continue working there, as this type of behavior will not take her far...
Read moreRecently while traveling for work, I stopped at Marzoniâs in Selinsgrove. I have been to 4 of 5 Marzoniâs in the state, and Selinsgrove was the last on the list. While I would like to commend the chain, the Selinsgrove Marzoniâs is incredibly subpar.
First, let me start by saying that I actually ate at this same restaurant the evening before, and while my service quality was certainly subpar, the food was good. That poor service experience from Wednesday is not why I am posting this review.
Upon arriving Thursday evening, our server Megan (who I would also like to add is in no way at fault for this) greeted us. We placed our drink order at 7 PM. At 7:40 PM, I asked to speak with a manager. Our martinis had still not been prepared, and we wanted our drinks. The special was only available between 5-9 so it was beginning to feel like it was just a way to limit how many drinks we could order. The manager offered to come the round, and I agreed... until the martinis arrived at the table. My Key Lime martini was served without the cracker crust, and the two Banana Nut martinis ordered by my colleagues were also not prepared as they shouldâve been (no cracker crust, no drizzle). That wasnât the end of it. In a 6 ounce martini glass, the bartender provided us with glasses that were already 3/4 to a full inch below the rim, meaning they were around 4 ounces.
The restaurant was not even half full. As I said, I shouldnât be surprised after the poor service the evening before, but I can assure you I will never visit this Marzoniâs again, and if this is what the chain considers acceptable, perhaps itâs best to avoid...
