El Vallarta — Restaurant in Monroe

I come here a lot, there is very good business and service here. Most sit-down restaurants take almost half an hour to bring you your food, this place isn't like that. The food is served extremely quickly and fresh, sometimes still sizzling from the grill to where you have to wait to start consuming. The food here is cooked at an absolutely perfect level and has very very high quality meals and many many meals to choose from. All the staff here are very friendly, there's not one person I can think of that give a bad feeling or reputation to the place. This place is obviously a Mexican restaurant, and they show this very well. You feel as if you are in Mexico and apart of them as you visit and eat here, they show off culture very well. There is one specific employee that needs to be mentioned upon, that employee is Crystal Guillen. She is a hostess here and I've never had a more respectful, kind hostess/employee in my life. She really makes me feel welcomed every time I walk in and I appreciate that very much. I give this restaurant a 5 star...

I’m originally from Miami Florida and that’s where you get some real Spanish food, many places in the Carolinas are lack luster but this place is a gem. The best El Vallarta. You get what you pay for and then some. The dinner portions are wonderful for takeout which I do all the time! The mid aged lady which I never got her name is always smiling and wonderful when I pick up food. I am always satisfied when I go and I frequent here all the time with my gf as tradition. I order the Carne Con Salsa (don’t change the recipe PLEASE) almost exclusively but I tried their chimichanga with carnitas and I’m impressed. This location sincerely needs to teach other El Vallartas how to cook because the one in Waxhaw in particular has no soul in their food when I go. Please please teach them! While the food is good it has gone downhill over the last couple of years. My problem is with the service it is horrible I find it hard to believe that the one in Monroe is in any way connected to the one in Marshville or Waxhaw. Not all but most of the wait staff at Monroe could care less if the order is right. Tonight was my daughters birthday she is gluten free by necessity not choice. We asked at least 3 times for corn tortillas finally the 4th time she brought them. I and the other seven in our party got our drinks refilled once and we had to ask twice for that. One order was short a taco and she tried to charge us for it saying he ate it. He ordered 3 only received 2. I would recommend the Marshville and Waxhaw locations, but highly recommend you steer clear of the Monroe location.
