Food Geeks Eatery — Restaurant in Monroe

I was super excited to try this place, and then relatively disappointed after trying it. When it said Brooklyn soul food my mouth watered, what I received possibly came from the Brooklyn hospital. Mac and cheese was flavorless, I couldn’t even take more than 2 bites to be sure it was that terrible. The candied yams were a bit too hard still (undercooked) but the flavor I got halfway through the bite was shocking. Starts off nice and sweet and then you’re hit with an acidic or sour flavor. Ordered collard greens and got 2 sides of sweet potato’s instead so can’t speak on those. The pork chop was good. The fried shrimp were amazing! The fried chicken was burnt. The cony island wings weren’t crispy like I had pictured or small like I was hoping (I don’t care for big chicken wings) We didn’t receive rolls with our trays that were supposed to come with it, or fries...

Decided to give this place a try as I was excited to have a soul food near home. However, I was highly disappointed. I ordered the smothered turkey wing dinner with mac and cheese, and yams. The turkey wings alone had no flavor it was like they were not seasoned. The gravy gave it some flavor. The yams were undercooked as they were still hard and had an apple flavor to them.
