I am not in the habit of leaving bad reviews if I leave a restaurant disappointed. I normally just don't leave a review as maybe it was just a bad night. In this instance, I feel a review is in order. Mother's Day dinner only two waitresses and no bus staff. I'll start with the good. The garlic parmesan chicken wings were very good. The beet salad was good. The salad my husband got was so vinegary he couldn't eat it. They did give him a new one with blue cheese dressing. He barely ate half of it. We were never asked if he wanted to pack it. They just came and put dirty dishes on top of it. And I said oh we were going to pack that and they said oh sorry and that was that no offer to give him a salad to go even just a Small salad to go. The pasta and the chicken Parm left a lot to be desired. Sauce really subpar. We ate here many times when it was Carl Anthony's and were always very happy. The owner told us he just took over 5 months ago, so rather than leave and write a bad review, we thought well maybe we would give him some input. I spoke with him in private as to not have other customers hear. Well I'll tell you what he did not want to hear it. I told him that customers left and their tables never got bussed. I was looking at several dirty tables my entire meal. He just kept repeating we are short staffed. I said but as an owner you could have helped them. He got completely insulted basically told me be well. So needless to say we will never come back and if you're looking for a good italian meal you might want to think twice. $100 for 2 people and most of our food went in the garbage. Literally took two bites of the chicken and a fork full of pasta. As a business owner I appreciate when people give me input even if it's negative I use it to get better. He was clearly angry and somewhat rude in our interaction. Just a side note the 2 waitresses that were there were working really hard, so no...
Read moreMy boyfriend had made a reservation for Valentine’s Day in January. We go to the restaurant after driving about 30 minutes from New Haven. We get to the restaurant and the host says she doesn’t have our reservation and can sit us at a bar table. We were confused because my boyfriend has the confirmation from open table. He goes back up to the host who is still trying to deny that we had a reservation. She then tells us that we do have a reservation they just have no tables. It’s Valentine’s Day so we would’ve understood if it was busy and there’s no tables however the way she was just telling us we had no reservation kinda sat with us the wrong way. Another couple walks in behind us same issue. The host comes back and seats the couple that came in behind us(assuming it was because she didn’t like how we confronted her about the reservations). A couple minutes go by and she says we can seat you at the big table. She sits us and proceeds to leave no menus or water. The sever eventually comes up to us and asks us if we would like to start with anything to drink we say we never received any menus. She then said she’ll be right back with them. She then is talking to the bartender and asking her if we sat ourselves because we had no menus.(why would someone sit themselves on Valentine’s Day) Another ten minutes go by still no menus so we just decide to up and leave because we both felt disrespected. I had then asked the host to speak to a manager waited another ten minutes and no manager was in sight. I understand it’s the busiest day of the year but this was not even close to ok. I have been here on multiple other occasions and have never had this type of service here or any...
Read moreI've been going to the previous rewstaurant for years and never wrote a bad review ever. Me and my wife went last night, arrived at 7: 00 pm. We oredered drinks, appetizers, and entree. I told the waitress twice to bring me a side of ice for my margarita straight up, but she never brought it. I actually asked the hostess who seated us and she brought it right away. The crab cake appetizer that I orderer at least 30 times in the past are way much smaller than the pevious owner. After about an hour which is now 8:00 pm, the waitress told us our food is coming out. We didn't get our meals to 8:25. My wife went to speak to the owner, and he was rude, didn't seem like he even cared, and told her they were backed up. The funny part is that there were only 6 tables being served 3 inside, and 3 outside. The place was actually dead, but we waited 85 minutes to get our entree. Driving to the restaurant we passed Testo's Restaurant which was packed , and their parking lot was full. I sent a lot of business to marchello's prior spot, had parties there, and even had them cater holiday food. To sum it up: the quality of food went down hill, the portions are much smaller, and the prices went up. Me and my wife go out to dinner many times every month and never once complained, wrote a review, or had such a terrible experience. There is NO way ever we will ever be back there again. They not only lost our business, but all of our friends, and...
