January Boba & Cake — Restaurant in Monterey Park

Be wary of this place and the artificial reviews on Yelp. They offer a free Thai Tea drink (which wasn't good) in exchange for a 4/5-star review. This is blatant rating manipulation.

I am solely reviewing the drinks as that was what I got. I cannot comment on the food.

My party ordered a Jasmine Green Milk Tea with 25% sugar, Thai Tea with 25% sugar, and Strawberry Banana Smoothie with 50% sugar. All of the drinks were disappointing. I ordered the Jasmine with 25% sugar as a way to tell whether they use syrups and tea quality. The drink tasted artificial as they use syrups and they also didn't have a strong tea flavor. My conclusion is that their tea quality is sub-par and their way of sweetening the drink is solely through syrups and not through brown sugar or actual ingredients (ex: flowers, fruit, etc). This was further bolstered as the smoothie didn't have a strong fruit taste which means they used a TeaZone syrup for their taste. As for the Thai Tea, the sweetness, even at 25% tasted like it was 100% with other drinks. I couldn't stand the flavor and had to throw it out. In addition, the boba for both drinks tasted as if they were 3-hour old.

The only redeeming quality was their pricing. They have a BOGO with prices around the 4$ mark. With a large smoothie and milk tea with boba to each, the total came out to 6.54$ -- or about 3.27$ per person. This is on the cheaper aide, but I would go to a better boba place and shell out the extra dollar for much better quality.

I wouldn't even drink this place even if they gave me free drinks. This, in addition to the shady business practice of voter manipulation, leads me to warn everyone...

They always have a special of Buy One Get One for $1!! Such a great deal! Boba and upsizing is extra of course.

Parking: Parking lot that is ALWAYS all types of busy!! But there is a covered multi-story parking garage that’s free! So if you don’t mind walking that a good option. It’s not a far walk at all.

You can call in your orders! I love to do this and my drinks are always ready by the time I get there.

Staff is friendly and nice. Drinks are always consistent.

Drinks: Jasmine milk tea: strong tea flavor with lots of creaminess! Mixed fruit tea: you can’t adjust sweetness on these I believe but they taste great as is. If you like it less sweet then I’d wait for the ice to melt a bit or add in your own water lol

Boba: Unfortunately, the boba here isn’t the best. Of all the times I’ve gotten the boba as a topping, they were on the al dente. My bf actually like them like that but I like mines on the chewy side.

This was my first time to go to Boba Time store. We were debating on going between Hawaiian style, Korean style or Boba Time. I'm glad we went to Boba T ok me. I was pleasantly surprised of the choices they have! There were smoothies, teas, breakfast bowls, shaved ice, juices & coffees!!! We ordered shaved ice to go. I ordered the Green Tea. It was amazing!!! It was so good it left a dancing picture & taste in my brain all weekend. I can't wait to go again and try another other flavor!!!
