Don't come here if you're hungry and desire the honey walnut shrimp. Portions were tiny and overall, this is not a cheap place to eat.
I went in shortly after opening. I use to go to the Panda Express in Bellflower on a regular basis. Servers were nice and portions were good. The same can be said for the Panda in So El Monte. Same good level of service. You would be greeted and served adequate-sized portions. Fast forward to today, I expected the same a this location in Monterey Park. Not quite. The server, a youthful rather stoic female, was dry and not the tiniest bit friendly. I wanted two servings of honey walnut shrimp. There appeared to be less than two servings left in the pan. Well guess what. By the time she served it, there was still quite a bit left in the pan. I was like wow. There is an upcharge for this item, and then she scooped out about a third scoop for each portion. These were some of the tiniest portions of any Panda I've ever visited. Then to top it off, she asked if I wanted to donate money when she began to ring me up. Not wanting to appear to a cheapskate, I agreed to the donation. In thinking afterwards, I should've replied an immediate no. I'll go that route next time. I'm all for giving to charity, but not when I've been shortchanged and given puny portions on an upcharged item.''
Anyway, I will try this place out again and see if things are better. If not, I won't...
Read moreBlakley is the young woman’s name. She was unhelpful and unhappy with customer service. She has been hired by Panda Express to provide customer assistance and be customer focused. Yet in my case of asking to cash out the remainder of the gift card back, I got pushback galore. She let me have it, by telling me she knew the law. She indicated the law only applies if the initial purchase of the gift card under $10. Hmmm, let me think about that one for a second. Nope, it wouldn’t make sense. It’s the remaining balance on a card of less than $10. So much for knowing the law and letting me have it. If I didn’t insist her to still give it a try, she wouldn’t have discovered what she knows was wrong. Not very noble. How could I not be angry about the matter? If you were in the Right, I would have apologized. But I wasn’t wrong, in this case customer was right. And you have the audacity to say I had an attitude.
Enough of the rant, please learn from this incident and be better. I will also try to be better. We can all try to make ourselves better, I included.
This panda currently has 4.1 stars, rightfully so because it normally is 4-stars above. I don’t always have a GC to cash out so therefore would not run into this situation regularly. But if I do, I have certain...

A big thanks to Betty, the manager, for making our visit even better. She greeted us with a warm smile and made sure the whole team was just as friendly and welcoming. You could tell she’s not only great at managing but also cares about the people she works with. It’s clear she takes pride in her job, and it shows in how the place runs.
Our cashier, Melanie, was also awesome, providing top-notch customer service with a smile. She really made our experience even more enjoyable.
