I am writing this review due to the horrible service me and my family received today on 2/8/2020. I hate to put bad reviews on restaurants due to me being part of this industry for over 10 years. I took my family and everyone ordered except my mom(who ate before we arrived). She told the server, she wasn't going to order and the server had to make a rude remark to my mom; implying that she was being cheap. I then addressed this to the staff to watch what they say and asked for the bill. The bill came out to around $66 for 6 meals, which is the only good part due to the reasonable prices. However, when I paid with my credit card; I put cash on the table(I prefer to tip in cash), I put a line on the credit slip. Another server told me that I had forgotten to tip and fill that area out. I had to point that I left $8 cash on the table, even though they were quite rude and unprofessional. Would I ever eat here again, heck no. If anyone ever wish to have a in the restaurant industry and want a free lesson on what not to do in a restaurant worker. Come and...
Read moreOk food for Ok Cafe. Not extraordinarily good. My friend has been telling to go try this HK cafe. I thought I would give it try.
Here is the load downs: The chow fen has ok taste like most of the other HK cafes in SGV. But it lacked the Wok Hei which is essential to good Chow Fen. Yang Zhou fried rice is also ok with a bit of salty taste. The BBQ pork in the fried rice had no flavor.
As for the wonton noodle, which is a stable of HK cafe, was also just ok. The wonton didn’t have a lot of shrimps and the noodle was saggy and it was hard for me to separate the noodle. The noodle had no texture, it was just a bundle of spaghetti egg noodles. Typically, the egg noodle comes with wonton should be al dente and elastic with a bit of chewy texture.
The only good dish we had was the pan fried Gai Lan. It was green and crunchy that’s perfectly cooked. Haven’t tried the other dishes yet. I hope they are better than the fried rice and...
Read moreIn short: OK Cafe is not okay. I have been here a handful of times since it opened a few years ago, and each time I swear it will be the last.
OK Cafe is a Hong Kong style restaurant serving a fairly large menu of both Cantonese dishes (BBQ meats, soups like Wonton and noodles, Beef Chow Fun, Chow Mein, etc) as well as Western style cuisine (steak, pork chops, pasta, egg dishes, etc). It's a combination that is popular in Hong Kong and in the expat community here.
Personally I am always stunned at the amount of salt and oil present in the majority of the food here. Additionally, much of the meats and the rice come off as less than fresh, and as for the meats, dry and overly salty.
Service is not the most personal or friendly. The restaurant runs specials on popular items, and in general prices are a bit lower than what you'd pay in a better Cantonese restaurant. This place tends to attract families and older groups because of...
