this restaurant was such a pleasant surprise! My friend and I heard of this place from the staff who had a booth at the 626 night market. I had been to a maid/kawaii restaurant before, awhile ago in Vegas. that place was not like this but it set my expectations, I suppose. Asayoru blew my expectations! It was so cute and adorable! The staff were super kind and adorable as well! (+ they said I was cute so that's really gotta mean something coming from them lol) So first thing they do when you come in is greet you with a pretty grand acknowledgement that you've came to visit them. In my opinion, their menu is very well put together! they have the combos in the front. Both my friend and I got the deluxe combo, it was super worth it. they have asterisks* next to the menu item where they add 'maid magic'. I ordered the kuma-san omurice, the froggy matcha partfait (secret menu item), a furi furi shaka shaka - mixed juice with a calpico base,  and in the combo included a chekki. The food was amazing and perfect portions, not too much. Our service was provided by Maid Sakurin. She was so sweet and attentive. She drew the cutest things on our plates and chekki. Another maid helped a bit too, I wish I would've remembered her name. (edit: her name was Hoshiko) She was great too and we got a photo with her. There is a lot of participation so you are immersed in the experience so to say and I say this because I could see some ppl could be embarrassed by this but it's so great. you shouldn't take life so seriously, this experience is in great fun. I would give this place 6 stars if I could! the maids are so great and we will definitely be back soon!

Ah, maid cafés. That thing we've seen countless times in media such as anime. A staple that many fans of Japanese media would like to attend but either don't out of embarrassment or are waiting for the real thing in Japan itself. This is where Asayoru Maid Café comes into play. The location is in a well populated downtown area of Montery Park tucked in between an AMC and a Holiday Inn. I made reservations and was greeted by a wonderful maid named Sumi. Me and her did a greeting ritual, and she guided me to my seat. Another maid came and showed us the menu and how everything worked. I decided to get the $44 special, which includes soup or salad, an entree, and a drink along with a cheki (a photo with you and the maid of your choice). Got the omurice along with a special vanilla ice cream Calpico drink with a soup. The food is just okay. I didn't have high expectations, and you are buying more for the entertainment and experience. It was honestly better than I thought it was going to be. The café itself was very busy, and the service was a little slow, but it seemed like maybe someone called out or they weren't prepared for a huge crowd. My maid kept apologizing and being really sincere, so I didn't mind at all. Overall, for a person who thought wasn't going to like maid cafés, I really enjoyed the atmosphere and wouldn't mind coming back

I first heard about this place in February of 2025, and after many months of frequenting this humble little establishment within a packed neighborhood of good food, I have to say that this review was long overdue. Craving cute ice cream creations? Go to Asayoru. Have a hankering for omurice? Go to Asayoru. Having a crappy day and wanna be entertained? Go to Asayoru. Need energy and laughter after a long day at work? Go to Asayoru. Wanna play an intense round of Jenga with your server? Go to Asayoru. Wanna do work in a café but don't wanna deal with baristas mispronouncing your name? Go to Asayoru. Wanna go to the most magical place on Earth but don't wanna spend an entire limb on parking? GO TO ASAYORU!!!! Seriously, this place is the real deal! This place is always lively, regardless of the time of day. The food is delicious. The server maids really get to know you and love to talk to you. The entertainment options are top-notch, which includes board games and performances (singing and/or dancing). This place promotes individuality and it makes for a better dining experience. From birthdays to long days at work, I love spending my time here. Definitely one of the coolest hidden experiences in LA. Definitely worth a visit.

I've been a fan of this cafe for four years on social media back when they only did pop ups up till their crowd funding campaign at the first location allll the way to the new location. I've never been able to visit due to living in another state but now I'm here for anime expo 2025 and was extremely excited to attend the first ever brick and mortar maid cafe in America!

Let's start with the positives: They were very understanding with us arriving 25 mins later than our set reservation time due to traffic and even sat us with two extra people joining our party last minute The overall cafe was decorated very cutely with very cutesy and energetic anime music playing in the background the food/desserts/drinks were very yummy (when we did finally get them) the performances were so high energy and cutesy along with our chekkis I'm glad the maids did the magical moe moe spell with each item they brought

Now for the negatives: we were told we would only have a 1 hour and 30 minute time slot...that turned into 2 and half hours (not by choice) The kitchen had two separate incidents that delayed our orders specifically leaving most of us starving and picking off of each others plates since this was supposed to be our dinner. By the 30 minute mark one person in our party received their plate of food, 10 minutes after the appetizers were brought out (we were missing one and was told it would be out soon)1 hour mark came and half of us received our food finally but two of our friends drinks were still missing along with the last appetizer. By the 1 hour 30 minute mark one of our friends finally received their drink but still no food for three of us, no last appetizer and still 1 missing drink. By the 2 hour mark our friend finally received their missing drink and appetizer. Then by the 2 hour and 10 minute mark the last two of our party finally received their food (one of them being the wrong burger but at this point there was no point in asking for a remake) When trying to talk to the maids and ask for things to be taken off due to how long things took they insisted everything was coming and suddenly our friends missing items arrived. Instead of just taking off the extremely late food they gave us only a 15% discount off a $455 dollar bill And they wrong everything up individually rather than as the combos which we felt made everything even more expensive Within those two hours at least 4-5 groups were in and out somehow Overall I wouldn't come back with a group as it's clear its much too overwhelming for just four maids to handle and need extra help on the floor kitchen staff needs more training to avoid situations like this in the future -the cafe needs to be up front about everything being charged separately rather than in combos like their menu states cafe needs better contact system for their customers...

As a regular from Aug 2023 I can honestly say I fell in love with the place. Every maid is amazing and love how everyone has their different type of themes.

Since Nov of 2024 at their new location I have admired how the new place is influence from the Maid Cafés in Japan. As of right now they are still in their soft opening and I'm sure Oyabun (Manager) is trying new and amazing ideas to make us feel comfortable and have more fun then we did over in Arcadia.

One thing I actually love recently is that they did Asa (Morning) and Yoru (Night) Shifts where they do a little things differently between both.

The Asa Shift (11am-3pm) consist of the maids wearing the Victorian Period outfit and their music themes of classical music and anime movie studio ones. Everything on the menu is available except for performance and the main course food options. As of 1/16/2024 you have the option of the Egg Sando (Sandwich) and the Tuna. I'm sure they'll have more options in the future but I digress. Other than that If you are looking for some peace and quiet, a nice cup of tea and Plenty of time with your Oishi. I recommend the Asa Shift.

The Yoru Shift (12pm-9pm) consist of the maids wearing the French Maid Outfits just like the Maid from Japan (OOO La La). What more can I say. Performances are amazing depending on the maids because some will dance and some will sing. Food and drinks are a huge upgrade compared to the EXP and no longer do the maids have to do a 6 minute walk to retrieve your food and honest food review........... 9/10 (anyone complaining about the food probably started eating without letting the maids bless the food) which is something every maid does which is that once the food arrives you must do a special blessing to your food for it to taste delicious.

In closing, it's a great place for...
