Worst recycling place in the alhambra/monterey park area ā AVOID AT ALL COSTS! Iāve been recycling here for 13 years, since it used to be a RePlanet Recycling Center and they were the BEST! They were always honest and fair when it came to pricing and payouts, they never rushed you or gave attitude, they NEVER said āplastic #2 like milk and water jugs arenāt accepted hereā because thatās nonsense, they even had the option to put the recycles into the recycling machine by yourself one at a time to get the full payout of 5Ā¢ (for under 24oz) and 10Ā¢ (for over 24oz) per recyclable but then one day it was Sunset Recycling instead and suddenly the pieces and payouts are much lower, the self-service machines are indefinitely deactivated, they donāt accept milk carton material plastic even though legally in the state of CA they have too (can payout scrap pricing if the material is contaminated), theyāre never there on time when theyāre supposed to be open (they say sorry sometimes and that it was an emergency or something yet it somehow occurs every single time I go) so I imagine it happens most of the time in general (especially after reading the other reviews), they always have some new young guy working there now who canāt tell you why they donāt accept certain materials certain days, and if you look at the reviews on here they only respond to negative reviews that call them out on being so awful trying to defend themselves instead of answering our questions like WHY DO YOU CHOOSE WHAT KIND OF RECYCLABLE MATERIALS YOU DO AND DONāT ACCEPT? Why are majority of people getting ripped off (either the weight is under, the pay is under or both are)? Why does it always go to voicemail when someone calls the number on here and then they text you right after saying how can I help you but donāt reply once you tell them what you need help with? Why do you guys constantly show up late and take extended lunches? Why is the customer service just terrible now even though it was great before this place became Sunset Recycling? Why why why why why is all any of us wonder. So please as a recycler do not waste your time, effort, energy or anything else at this place itās the absolute worst and I like many others will never be back which is really disappointing considering itās been my go to place for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreTo the owner of Sunset Recycling: There's a really nice young man that works there at times, very friendly and honest, however, this one guy, a little older is one you can't trust, a couple of weeks ago I took in a full topped basket of plastic recyclables, this other guy put the basket on and off the scale so quickly I couldn't see the weight, then the older guy doing the accounting, told the helper not to put my recyclables in the back with the rest of the recyclables, and to put them in a plastic bag, by themselves, so when he gave me my reimbursement, I only got $8.40 I even told him are you sure this is it? When a few days before I went to recycle some more plastics, and the other nice young man, reimbursed me $13 and change, I knew right there and then I got cheated, I'm bringing this up to you so you can be aware of what's going on, and how unfairly your employee is handling...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreAfter going to the same company owned recycling center in Temple City, I wanted to find out how this location does. Both plastic and cans had a count of 50. I would have gotten $5 if requested a count. I decided to weigh it instead. I was not deducted the tare weight and it came to be almost $2 less if I was to request a 50 count. If I was deducted the tare weight I think I would have gotten $1.50. Unfortunately sunset recycling center have lost me as a customer. I donāt see why and how this company would benefit from such a big difference in weight. Are they gathering the weight and adding it to someone elseās name? This can be an example of cheating the poorest of poor people from getting a fair value. Netflix should do a...
