We are Monterey County natives that chose to celebrate our 39th anniversary at the iconic Lodge at Pebble Beach.

The location can't be beat (on a sunny day). The view is beautiful. The service was excellent and the food was good to very good

My wife had filet and lobster. She does not like rare meat so she went medium on the filet. She said it was more done than she preferred. Maybe they cooked it to true medium where everywhere else it is cooked too short and it's too red. She was disappointed especially because the glaze was very vinegary, not a true glaze. The lobster was very good though. I had scallops and it was very tasty. I would have it again. We both had a salad, both were delicious.

Here was the biggest frustration- it was cold in the restaurant and freezing in the lobby/bathroom area. When we arrived, it was comfortable in the restaurant, then it got cold/drafty. It improved, then it got cold again.

On a trip to the restroom, I commented to the front desk how cold it was, and they said they wear thermals. The front door was ajar, and going down the hall past the bathrooms, there was a door to the outside wide open creating a wind tunnel. How that affects the restaurant is unclear, but we kept putting on our coats (which is not what we want at dinner). When it would warm up, off went the coats, but here comes the cold again.

Why one of the premier resorts in the West U.S. cannot manage their thermostat is beyond me. The waiter said it is a constant problem, and he was been there for a long time. Perhaps most of Stillwater’s patrons enjoy eating in the fridge, but we don’t. The Monterey Peninsula is cold outside. I know, I’ve lived here six decades. We don’t need it just as cold inside.

We give the whole experience a 3.5. Without the cold issue we would...

I've been to Stillwater Bar and Grill twice now. It's one of the several restaurants in the Lodge at Pebble Beach, and probably its nicest/most expensive.

It's on the top level and the main dining room offers a gorgeous elevated view of the 18th green and the surrounding coastline. There are also some tables on the patio for seating. On Sundays there is a brunch buffet that's really good. Lots of exquisite options and an omelette station.

Most recently I was at Stillwater for lunch on a beautiful sunny day. We took advantage of the good weather and sat outside. I ordered the burger, which was humongous! The meat was juicy and flavorful, and I loved the Stillwater sauce they put on the burger. I also asked for caramelized onions instead of raw onion (it's seriously the best topping for a burger!). My dad got the steak and he really liked it... raved about it for days until we got to Hillstone. We also got the smoked trout salad with apples. It was really good - I loved the fried shallots. My mom got the open faced lobster salad sandwich, which was heaping with lobster! Instead of drowning in mayonnaise, it was a very light and delicious lobster salad.

If you're in the Monterey area and don't mind the slight splurge, go to Stillwater for a relaxing meal surrounding by the...

I'm not into leaving reviews of restaurants where I was disappointed, but I am going to for this location. Yes, the views are amazing here and I feel like the servers and cooks think the same. No effort was put into the flavors of the food and the server never brought our change back, when I specifically told him I need change! He gave himself a 35% tip! I had end pieces of fries and husbands hamburger was horribly plain! My Cole slaw tasted like it may have been sitting around since last week. Can't complain about the scenery, but just really sad about the food and service. Not even one soda refill or even asked if he needed one. One postive thing is, if you are into having an adult beverage, there is a table of contents for that menu. Pebble Beach Lodge and facilities are definitely not easily handicapped accessible. Don't come here to eat, or if you do, just go to their market and grab an over priced sandwich. I do not recommend any of...
