I am updating my review because someone did reach out to me regarding my review. We still love the food, and we will continue to frequent this restaurant, but I am going to change up a bit of what I said regarding service. Just so everyone knows, servers STILL get paid $2.13 an hour, that has not increased since the early 90s. Servers rely solely on tips for pay, and because minimum wage in Texas is still just $7.25 an hour, servers get paid a base hourly of $2.13, with the intention of tips making up the balance to meet the most bare minimum of $7.25. Tips are their pay, and restaurant owners across the board, have yet to do the right thing and increase that base pay. Dishwashers and bussers can make more money than servers, who are the face of the business. Does anyone want to address this? No. Restaurant owners take advantage of this and not only do the servers suffer, but ultimately the business. A business will not get a great server these days, why would they? I am a great server, but why would I work for $2.13 and hope that customers will make up the difference. Not when usually a server is given a 3 to 4 table section, or when the general public is also fighting to stay afloat and tips are not what they used to be... or when millennials were taught in school, yes, this was taught in school, to base a tip off of the amount by adding a zero to the pretax total. If the total of a check is $35.00, millennials were taught in school to tip $ 3.50 Nice. Thanks. How many people out there still think that servers get paid a regular minimum wage and then the tip is on top of that? Plenty. Oh I could go on and on. Also, servers usually have side work, that cuts into that pay because if they have to work for up to an hour after their shift to finish side work, they are still only getting paid $2.13 for that hour, no tips coming in... so yeah, this is a hot button for me and every other good experienced server out there. Places are always going to face a shortage of servers now because why would a good decent server work for that pay? The only server a restaurant is going to get now are the inexperienced young people who are in between jobs. Usually. We are regulars here and we really enjoy the food however we see them struggling with staff. Young servers that have no clue how to serve, just short experienced servers. The staff is so young here, they don't even know how to be good servers. I haven't seen a knowledgeable manager type since we've been here, that's. A lot of issues too Unfortunately it doesn't matter how good a place is if you have bad staff it leaves a bad taste in your mouth. The serving staff is young, inexperienced, and lost, and it shows. This happens at most restaurants, not just Pizza Shack. so I am not picking on Pizza Shack. All restaurants could fix the problem if they...
Read moreThis rating is for the exceptional food at this restaurant. We go to the restaurant in Willis often and this is our first foray into the Montgomery branch.
Now for the review. Although the food was exceptional, the service was the pits. Whenever you look for the waitress, you could find her at the server stand in front of the pizza maker, talking with her coworkers. When she first came to the table, I ordered chicken noodle soup and she suggested a chicken dish with a substituted sauce on the pasta. When the soup came, it was gumbo. Interesting it looks nothing like chicken noodle and was an unfortunate, stupid mistake. Further, when she took our order for the chicken with the substituted sauce, she didn’t say anything about an up charge and I didn’t find out about it until the bill came. Not a good practice. There was so much food we couldn’t finish at all, so we asked for two small to go boxes. She brought the boxes but didn’t bring a bag. Fortunately, the bus boy was able to get us a bag because again, we couldn’t find the waitress. Finally when I used the little machine to check out and pay the bill, I asked for a copy of the receipt by pressing “print“ before I returned the machine. We waited and waited and waited and finally just got tired and didn’t want to try and chase her down. We left without the receipt.
Michael, don’t bother writing your answer because it’s just water over the dam. What I recommend you do is keep an eye on your dark haired, female servers and keep them from congregating at the server stand.
Willis yes....
Read moreFriday night. Party of 9. Our name was called for seating but the 4 of us who were already there were told that we couldn’t be seated until our entire party was there. We told the hostess that the others are in the parking lot and pointed to them. We had to wait for everyone to crowd up inside to be seated. Our waitress was excellent taking our food and drink orders. Great appetizers. Lots of plates and napkins. Drinks served quickly. Plates cleared. Main courses served. Everything tasted great. Then the bill came. One of our party was charged 89 cent for a side of ranch he didn’t get so he asked that it be removed from his bill. The waitress said management would have to review the video! What?! The manager, I’m assuming, came over and asked what our problem was and said she saw the ranch dressing on the table in the video. She’s arguing over 89 cents! The ranch was left over from our appetizer not served extra with the meal. The manager aggressively argued that we should have asked for the ranch at the time everything was served. Like it was our fault that we didn’t get the ranch. It was totally bizarre. Our party spent close to $400 but the manager, I’m assuming she was the manager but she never introduced herself, aggressively argued with us over 89 cents worth of ranch dressing. Another person in our party was charged 89 cents for jalapeños that they didn’t get . It was removed from their bill without any commotion or accusations at all. Very confusing. Also, the ladies bathrooms were completely clogged and unusable. Bizarre terrible...
