Yesterday 10/15, around lunch my family went there to try the restaurant for the first time and everyone was really rude especially the cashier. And I never write reviews but I really wanted to share what happened yesterday. I ordered and paid and I asked the cashier for the order number , but she insisted that she gave it to my son who while ordering the order went to the bathroom. I thought “ok” I guess I missed seeing that. So then I grabbed us a table and waited. My son comes back from the bathroom and I asked if he had received the order number and he said “no” -I go back to the cashier asked for the order number because my son never received it and she asked no? She said she gave it a young lady.. and I said you gave it to my young daughter who is 8? I told her, listen we don’t have the number can you just give it to us? -cashier says, I gave it to the “Asian lady in front of you” aren’t you guys together? And I said “no”. And she said I’m sorry I assumed you guys were together because you guys are “Asians”… -I said why will you assume that we are together because we are a “asians” we didn’t even pay together or talk to each other? cashier says, it’s not a big deal you can have seat. I was so upset I didn’t understand what just happened…at this point I let go of it all didn’t say thing I just set down because I didn’t want to argue… -The food did come under one ticket with the other table. And because my son was hungry I decided to order additional fries and the fries came out after 15 min which I had to remind them for the fries.. another frustrating moment— not even a sorry for being out late… -and also there was tall older gentleman who came out greeted each table except ours… just strange…
-It was just a very strange experience.. never going...
Read moreI was excited to try the Wharf for the first time after moving back to town. I've been gone around 10 years.
Unfortunately, it was some of the worst seafood I've ever had in my life. I had blackened grouper, and it was tough and dry. Sadly, it was very badly overcooked.
I also ordered oysters, and they were also dry, overcooked, and about 80% breading 20% oyster.
I love seafood. I like most "bad" seafood, but I found this food to be inedible to the point I threw it away and cooked a PB&J sandwich.
I do NOT blame the staff, I think they were understaffed when I visited the store. The person who is helping with checkout is also cooking. I don't know how it's possible to cook seafood well while you're also having to go back and forth to the register.
I honestly don't know enough about seafood to know if it was the quality of the oysters and the seafood that caused the problems, or if it was the way it was cooked. It was probably both, but at 50$ total for two entrees that were inedible.
I'm honestly shocked that this place has such good reviews, because this fish was probably more overcooked than a piece of fried fish at Captain D's, and this was a 25$ piece of blackened grouper. My parents also said they like this place.
With great reviews from the community at large and my parents, I can only assume my experience was an outlier potentially caused by the owners not staffing their location properly, but with seafood being as expensive as it is, I'm probably not going to want to "roll the dice" on this place in the future with great places like Seafood Bistro and Chuck's being more reliable options.
Terrible food. Nice staff, but I think they needed more people...
Read moreWife and I were looking for something different to eat on a Friday night and came across The Wharf Seafood. Got inside and ordered very easily. First out came out appetizer of Loaded Fried Green Tomatoes..... Let me just say WOW! I don't know what all is included with loaded, but I will say it may be the best appetizer ever! I know there was goat cheese, bacon, and a whole lot of other goodness, but my God it was absolutely fantastic, a must try.
My wife got the Cajun Shrimp and Grits and I had the Blackened Redfish Dinner with Cheese Grit and Greens. The greens came out and I was expecting to taste canned greens but was pleasantly surprised that they were quite flavorful. The Blackened Redfish was a bit over done, but was good none the less. My wife's Shrimp and Grits wasn't quite to her liking but she said it was fine too. The GM, David was out checking on diners and came to our table and asked how was everything. My wife told him about her dish and he explained how it was prepared and that she may want to try their house seasoning instead of Cajun style on our next trip. We thanked him for the suggestion. All in all a very good dining experience. David even brought her a piece of cake to make up for her not totally enjoying her food choice. THAT shows customer service, something that is sorely lacking in many food establishments today. We will...
