REVIEW AND RATING EDITED ON 4/23/2024: Due to unfortunate circumstances with the venue and unable to resolve with the Operations Manager, KP, I had to make the difficult decision on 3/28/2024 to cancel my event that was scheduled for April 27th at Blaque Butterfly. After MONTHS of event planning and only having dialogue with KP, I made him aware on a March 28th video meeting that it would not be in my best interest to have an event at Blaque Butterfly. On April 1, I followed up with an email. On April 4th, I received a phone call from Vanessa Foster, who introduced herself as the Project Manager for BB. Not only was this my first time hearing her name and title, I had never seen it on any communication with KP regarding my upcoming event but she is the Project Manager? I was handed off to Vanessa by KP to further discuss the situation with no introduction, just a cold call. While KP did go back and introduce Vanessa and I by email, that still did not explain WHY he bowed out of the conversation and handed me off to someone that had never been known or mentioned before. Fast forward past weeks of a flurry of email exchanges that did not resolve this issue. Time will tell what happens next but, I am deeply saddened that this spiraled the way that it did. I not only now have no plans of hosting an event at Blaque Butterfly, I will not be returning as a Bed and Breakfast guest.
I was introduced to Blaque Butterfly as a potential event venue through IG. Months of phone calls and Zoom meetings led to my first site visit on February 17, as a guest of their Seafood Taster. I was already sold on Blaque Butterfly being the perfect spot for my upcoming April 27, 2024 event but, KP’s authentic southern hospitality and attention to his guests really sealed the deal for me! The hours long road trip from North Carolina to Blaque Butterfly was WELL WORTH IT!!!
As an overnight guest, the Addison was my selected room. The spaciousness in size, the intentional decor and design that honors Dr. Reese’s love of the Cherokee Indians is a visual history lesson. My visit was made complete enjoying a delicious breakfast Sunday morning, prepared by KP, that I enjoyed with other guests, the wonderful Obals!
I am really looking forward to hosting my guests at my Black Butterfly Experience in April, as well as other visits that I plan in the future to Blaque...
Read moreI must say that from reading the other reviews I feel extremely slighted. My daughter surprised me with a weekend getaway at this venue she found on TicTok. After an almost 4 hour drive we wanted to unwind and get ready for what was slated as a dinner prepared by a professional chef. Though she was told that we do eat meat in a text message, she misread it and kept saying she would have prepared othet offerings if she had read it right. Even though she apologized, that didn't do anything for our stomachs. Dinner was rather disappointing. The meal (which was served over an hour later than originally planned) left much to be desired. I thought it would be prepared fresh for us, but we heard the microwave several times and were told that it was from a catering earlier in the day that was prepared for the chef's son's coworkers. Sadly it looked and tasted that way. The leftover garlic bread wasn't the same for both of us. Two small pieces of garlic toast for my daughter and two small pieces of cheese bread for me. I wouldn't have expected to be charged the price of a full meal for iceberg lettuce and leftover shrimp alfredo. It definitely didn't seem worth 45.00 each. The chef was very sweet, but the meal did not satisfy. My daughter actually got sick from eating the reheated food. As for KP, he barely acknowledged us. He spent most of the time we were in close proximity on his telephone. Guess we caught him on a bad day. My daughter sent an email prior to us leaving and to date we have yet to receive a response.
The venue itself is extraordinary. The decor was lovely and the beds were super comfortable. I enjoyed the artwork and relaxing in the parlor listening to the vinyl albums. I would however think that a bed and breakfast would have breakfast included in the lodging cost...not 25.00 additional. Without paying for the dinner and breakfast it would have just been us renting a bedroom in a house with a shared bathroom. When my daughter voiced this concern at booking, 1 breakfast was comped. Sadly that meal wasn't to my liking either. I don't usually complain about money but this weekend was not money well spent. I'm sad that we didn't have a positive experience. I really wanted...
Read moreThis review may be long, because I do not want clients to see more in their pictures then you get. I realize this Inn is still renovating ! The outside, was broken fences around area, no sitting areas outside to sit! Not handicap accessible, ramp in back but you cannot get in back door. Steps going upfront of B&B, and 13 steps going up to rooms. Hard to manage with mobility issues and walker . Checked in was ok, the hostess Kay was so helpful, pleasant I do not think we would have continued our stay if not for her. You do not get your own bathroom!! Me and husband shared a bathroom with family across the hall, but they were my family so I shared with them! I could not imagine sharing a bathroom with strangers🤮 Check in at 4, went up to room and was hit with a blast of hot air, room was at 80, it did not cool down until about 5AM, but we happened to bring portable fan, but had to purchase another one for added comfort, Our room Addison was beside main road, so day traffic in AM was loud, and it didn’t help that a motorcycle show and car show was in parking lot across street! So at 7 AM u woke up to the loud festivities. They need darkened shades, it would help with heat, and light. No room service!! Who would u call no one was in building over weekend, accept Kay who we would have to call! Their is a mini ref, coffee pot, and microwave, is that the room service, and breakfast . Their is no lounge on first floor , it had musical equipment, no place to sit and watch TV! The dining room we never entered it was set up for entertainment, but we were served nothing. Checkout we just left key on hook! You enter the building with your key, and you lock yourself in at night. We were in the huge house alone for 2 days. My daughter had her dad help get her and her boys in late at night because she did not want to enter alone. Parking was across street due to their paving their driveway, dangerous crossing main street with suitcases, mobility issues and waiting for traffic to slow down to cross! I see this place as a place to have meetings, activities, but definitely not for over...
