Taco John's — Restaurant in Monticello

The places was empty at 6pm on a Saturday night. Now I know why.

I ordered a 6pk and a pound, one pop, and asked for 2 cups for water. Megan asked 'bottled or fountain'. I elected for fountain since there were zero waters in the big box of ice right next to the register made just for this. I was charged for 3 beverages anyways. I asked why I was charged for three and she said she had to charge me for the cup to hold my water. So if you want COLD water, it will cost you $5/ea (for the cup to put the ice in just to add pee-warm bottled water). While pointing at the ice container, I asked her 'what goes in here?' She said, 'Water, but I haven't got to it yet...' Honestly, 6 o'clock on a Saturday and someone hasn't 'got' to it yet.

The outside of the hardshell tacos were covered(and I mean COVERED) in taco sauce to the degree that I thought Helen Keller herself put them together. I have made less of a mess eating a 1/2 rack of ribs before. Bring a couple wet naps if you are eating here. You will thank me for it later.

Taco meat was barley warm and the potato oles were mostly soggy. Table was sticky from not being cleaned.

I don't know how this store is even open. Giving this place a 1 star is giving it too much credit. I won't be back to this...

Ordered to go. Food was good. Staff Fyi I had a promo code for 25% off. Order taken & person said can do it on the register which I appreciated (one less step for me) & didn't need QR code from my phone, Yet, receipt was 20%, asked & highest % on register. Also said would be only 25 cents more off from 20% to 25% which the person offered to give me. BUT, after I left with my bag of food & something didn't ring right & due to the whole 'talk of gettin rid of math & right answers' thing in schools... this is just an FYI: #1 Bill at $30 5% is $1.50 vs $0.25.:) Probably would have been beneficial option for me, the customer, for the order person to have mentioned that with QR code would probably get the actual 25% off when couldn't do it on the register. :) I'm not a frequent user of rewards apps. :) thinking it would have been put in towards rewards also? Hopefully, this may be beneficial info for future customers that receive 25% off. :) *The person who took the order was friendly, courteous & efficient. The food preppers were super fast! I have had the pleasure or visiting this location numerous times. I'd there was one thing I could give this location praise for is for their consistency.

They are consistently terrible.

This location always seems to be under staffed and slow. Typical drive thru visits last more that 15 minutes. You'd think maybe that something just went wrong and the staff is working on it. Instead you'll most likely see a bored looking cashier waiting for the one cook to prepare your food.

Speaking of the food: It is usually never piping hot, warm at best. I've had times where food was given to me cold. They would give me fresh food as apology, but by that time 20-30 minutes would have passed.

Overall, I find it hard to believe that this location remains open...
