6 weeks in advance a friend rented the pool room for her kid's birthday party and they wrote her reservation down "in the books", took her credit info down and when the day came we were told that they "didn't know there was a party today". It was clearly written in the book when she opened it up to check.
The room wasn't ready so she made us wait until 15 minutes after the party was supposed to start until she was done "cleaning". Our check in time was supposed to be at 10:30 to set up, party started at 11. We left that place cleaner than when we first arrived. The tables were sticky, the walls had tape and food on them, the counters weren't clean, it sparkled before they unceremoniously charged her card and kicked us out.
She has had her kid's birthday party here for the last 4 years in a row. Yesterday the owner decided to be kind of a jerk to the whole party which effectively ruined my friend's kid's special day. It's a dang good thing he "decided" to give her and her husband their money back after illegally charging them and keeping the copy of their credit card and her I.D. (he still had the copy when we left, talk about uncomfortable feeling of knowing that your I.D. and Credit Card are on the same piece of paper floating around out there in the hands of a malicious stranger who is angry and clearly dosen't know the law) which he demanded to have after they already gave him that info to hold the room. He charged them 3 times more than they quoted her 6 weeks ago. He tried to change the policy, prices and the rules around on them from what they were told when they made the reservation when he tried to justify why it was so much (which by the way those things are not posted permenately anywhere public, suspicious much?).
The room wasn't ready when they said it would be, the pool was freezing cold and kid's lips were turning blue, the room was rented until 3 and they said we had to be out by 2:30. Once the owner walked in the door he literally yelled at my friend in front of a whole room of guests at his motel saying that she should have brought her compalints up to the staff sooner (she did twice as soon as we got there at 11 a.m. owner showed up at 2:15 p.m.). Absolutely rdiculous place, ridiculous owner, and horrible customer service. Owner didn't even try to fix the issues, didn't even try to diffuse the situation or apologize for what he claimed was the staff's lack of knowledge, or his yelling at my friend, his customer. Definitely tried to blame a "new staff memeber" for the miscommunication. Will never recommend this...
Read moreIt was pretty clean, they had quite a lot of channels to choose from, the coffee pot wasn't located in the bathroom. Look the decor of the room a lot functionality for hanging your coats and charging your devices. The bathroom did have the ice buckets 2 stacked into each other turned upside down appeared clean, didn't utilize them. The towels are conveniently stored on a rack above the toilet so that they are rolled up this rack doubled as a convenient holder for the hairdryer and the towel rack a convenient drying rack for my soaking wet luggage. The items dried surprising fast and warmed the bathroom for a cozy exit out of the shower. The room had a microwave and a refrigerator. In the lobby there was coffee and liquid creamer and sugar available. There was a breakfast option I guess. I was gone before that service could be used. I had gone to check out the pool area the hours posted showed that the pool aught to have open for adults however the lights were all out. I might have utilized the hot tub or sauna if they would have been available. Quiet and the room windows actually open with a screen on them the beds were comfortable and clean. It is close to Albertville and to the mall of America. Also I didn't have to have a cash deposit for the room on top of the booking fee. as most hotels now force you to also put a cash deposit on a room that most people book using a card. If you don't read the conditions in their entirety, you will have a shock upon arrival and checkin of your already paid for room. Unless you are still a cash carrying individual with at least $200 to be safe on hand. So always good to read those detail in another tab or window beforehand. But this hotel did not require the cash deposit. Also all fees and taxes were already conveniently figured in the room rate total while I did a quick search for a last minute room. 2 other options had a cheaper room but after fees taxes and a cash deposit is figured were nearly...
Read moreI really want to give this motel ZERO stars because of an incident that occurred the afternoon of September 14, 2019. My daughter's in-laws booked a room there to stay while in town for their son's birthday, chosen for the specific purpose of inviting grand-kids over to swim while they were guests. On this day, which also happened to be my son-in-law's birthday, they picked up all six of their grandchildren and brought them to the pool. The kids ranged in age from 6 to 17, and were thrilled to get a chance to swim. You have a woman with the improbable name of "Mo" who came into the pool area and proceeded, with no provocation, to scream at all six kids, especially my 17 years old granddaughter. This horrible woman claims my granddaughter "mouthed off" at her, which is completely untrue. My granddaughter merely stated that it wasn't their (the children's) fault that they were not registered, which is not "mouthing off" by any stretch of the imagination. Not once did my granddaughter even raise her voice, while this woman "Mo" proceeded to scream, multiple times, at six CHILDREN!! I would like to point out there was not one single other swimmer even in the pool area at the time, so it wasn't like they were interfering with any other guests. The parents of two of the children, the mother of whom was the daughter of the people who were actually registered in the room, were even told they were not allowed to even visit her parents! Since when are hotel guests not allowed to have their own children come and visit them in the motel they are staying in? Clearly this woman "Mo" has absolutely zero business working in the "hospitality" business! This woman should lose her job, since she is clearly going to lose you more business! Personally, I will never darken the doorway of this hotel ever again! My son-in-law's mother was left in tears by "Mo", and my grandchildren have been traumatized! What a horrible...
