We hired the Woodbelly team to cater our wedding at the iconic Sleepy Hollow Farm in Woodstock, VT. As soon as my fiance and I walked into the Woodbelly shop for our tasting in Montpelier, we almost immediately knew we would want to work with them this summer. BLM artwork litters the walls, there's a sign that says "trans people eat free" under the register and Hailey greets you with the warmest smile from behind the counter!

Then...we tried the food. Nothing could have prepared us for how absolutely delicious everything was! And its not just their pizza thats mind-blowing, so are their vegetarian and chicken dishes. Hailey's service was wonderful, she (and her sweet daugther!) even did a site visit before the wedding to give us advice on where her team should set up, and what makes the most sense for rental planning. She was extremely accommodating to our vegan diet, as well and provided gluten-free alternatives for our guests. My parents mentioned "faine" aka "farinata," because we eat that with our pizza in our home-country of Argentina, and Hailey offered to learn the recipe and make it for us at the wedding. Thats how thoughtful she is!

We ordered: grazing table full of local cheese and meats maple seared scallops fish cakes -farinata -green salad with seasonal veg -maple braised chicken thighs and drumsticks -quinoa & bean stuffed squash -pizza buffet with vegan cheese and GF crust options -peach & blueberry cobbler

At the wedding, no one could stop talking about how incredible the food was, and how absolutely lovely Hailey and her staff are. We could not have had a better experience. Thank you and your team for making this happen!

Don't have photos to share yet (photos are yet to arrive from the photographer) but will leave you with this one of the bride getting her hands messy in...

I am from Brooklyn NY, Home of wildly good pizza. My granddaughter lives on Barre St and she was getting married. Somehow I ended up alone, and hungry. I am asking myself what to eat. As I was driving down Barre Street I noticed a sign Woodbelly Pizza. I had not been in VT for several years and did not know this pizza place existed. I got down to main street and sat there thinking if I should turn around and give it a try. I made it back to their parking lot and started into their place. I am pretty old and I look like I am about to take a tumble. A wonderful lady sitting at an outdoor table jumped up and helped me in. I was a bit disoriented. There was a wood fire oven staring me in the face. I could smell the pizza. One of the staff told me where to order and I was met by a lovely lady who helped me order. We engaged in conversation about Woodbelly and it's journey. It was so pleasant. I was wearing a Rosary and we conversed about that. Being a Thursday evening and pretty late, there were no immediate customers. By the time my pizza was cooked we had enjoyed a few wonderful moments. This is a really good place. It is thin crust pizza cooked to perfection. I was so happy a ventured into Woodbelly. I am posting one picture... That says it all. And no, I could not finish the whole pizza, which my great grandson was happy for. Thanks for a wonderful experience. Vermont rarely...

I, the bride, my new husband, and ALL of our 100+ guests are still in the most wonderful food coma from the Wood Belly pizza we served at our wedding this past Satruday. (June 4, 2016). We wanted a laid-back, Vermont-tastic yet classy wedding, and that is exactly what we got. Wood Belly was a HUGE part of that. Their mobile oven added a fun conversation piece, and David even made sure to include my favorite topping--goat cheese--and made sure that I got enough to eat without having to wait in line. The salad had edible flowers that added the most romantic touch, and later, a pizza special ordered by my husband did, too! David and his crew were also great at taking dietary needs into account, and offered gluten free and vegetarian options. Everyone was amazed and delighted by the delicious food and friendly service, and I can say that working with David and Wood Belly to plan it was a joy, as he is friendly, sensitive, and efficient.

We also were lucky enough to have Wood Belly do the bar service, which featured Citizen Cider, a variety of Vermont Brews, and wine. They also provided bitters and homemade fruit syrups like Mint and Strawberry-Rhubarb to make-your-own non-alcoholic cocktails! I could tell that the bar tenders were having a good time, and they even complimented my dancing. WIN.

I would recommend Wood Belly to any group looking for a delicious, unique, fun, and easy to work...

Very nice people run this place. They’re always pleasant. They go through a lot of staff, however, as it tends to be a seasonal business. During the catering season, the restaurant plays second fiddle to the catering side of things and is often closed. I used to love getting their slices at the local farmers market and events in town, and was quite excited when they opened a brick and mortar, but the brick and mortar never met my expectations. The restaurant is incredibly inconsistent across the board. One day, the pizza is cooked perfectly—the next time we go, it tastes too cheesy or has too little sauce. Almost every time we go, the person that pours the beer (always a different person) leaves a four inch head on one beer, and no head (but filled to the rim) on the second. It’s incredible how untrained some of this staff is. How hard can it be to teach them to pull a draft? So, it’s always kind of a crap shoot going in, but on the average it tends to be better than not. Sometimes the pizza is great, and sometimes, not so much—and at their price point, it should be more of the former and none of the latter. Sure, they use local ingredients, have a 200 year old yeast from France growing in a tub out back, dough made lovingly with the best of good spells and intentions in antique troughs, but if the product isn’t consistently excellent (it’s too expensive).
