Overpriced, condescending, understaffed, poorly managed, terrible customer service. Feels like a branch of a corporate franchise. So much potential here yet the owners clearly don't care. If there were any good competition in town, this place would have folded years ago.
Literally, every time I attempt to go here I encounter another headache.
I once called at 8:29 p.m. and asked to place an order for delivery. I was told they stopped delivering at 8:30. I said it is just barely 8:30 and I only live a few blocks away. They responded, “Would you like to place a takeout order?” I responded your website says you deliver until 9. They said that was wrong. I hung up.
I’ve worked in restaurants for years and have never treated customers like this. When I used to work in pizza restaurants and someone called at the end of delivery service, YOU STILL TAKE THE ORDER BECAUSE IT’S GOOD BUSINESS. You go to your driver, you tell them, I’m sorry, an order just came in- It’s just in town- I hope you don't mind staying a little late. A delivery driver should be expected to stay late every now and then anyway. Though Positive Pie would rather piss their customers off than have their driver make one last delivery. This is simply bad business. Period.
The next time I ordered I called at 8:08 p.m. I was told they were done delivering for the night. Confused, I told them the last time I ordered I was told they stopped delivering at 8:30, what’s the problem? They responded, “Well we don’t feel like delivering anymore tonight.”
Excuse me? You’re a pizza place? And you don’t feel like delivering anymore? You’re kidding right? Nope, they were dead serious. So I hung up. It’s like these people don't care at all!
Previously I had gone in to get a beer at the bar. Walked in, sat down. No bartender in sight. Place was empty. Employees kept looking over at us but no one acknowledged we were there. We waited ten minutes. Still no acknowledgement we were there. Ended up walking out. Again, this place simply does not care.
Went to an event a while back. Paid a $5.00 cover. Walked in, the place was packed. Went to get a drink but the bar was swarmed so it took OVER 25 MINUTES TO PLACE A DRINK ORDER. Only one bartender was working plus there was no bar back on duty... HELLO! Did you forget you were having an event tonight?? Might want to have adequate staff on hand. An hour later I got hungry. Figured since I was at a pizza joint they would have slices in the back. Nope. Kitchen was closed... HELLO! But that's an obvious blunder. You have a venue full of hungry people drinking, how hard is it to have a couple pizzas for slices on rotation in the back? It's like duh...who is running this place?? Do you care about your business or your customers at all??
Another time I went in to get a burger with some friends. Only one waitress was working the entire floor plan. Needless to say service was very slow. Not only that but apparently these knuckle heads don't know how to cook a burger either. Should have known they'd screw that up too.
So, I no longer support Positive Pie and I try to tell as many people as I can to not support them either. The owners here have shown they do not give a damn and I am fed up giving them chances they do not deserve.
Lastly, I'm embarrassed for my fellow Vermonters who think this place is good. I'm saddened by the fact that they’ve experienced such BS from restaurants and pizza places that Positive Pie appears to be a viable option. Only in Vermont could this place stay in business. Anywhere else they would have closed years ago. Avoid Positive Pie...
Read morePositive Pie is NOT a Positive Experience!! As a fairly new Vermonter for about 3 years and a family particular about their pizza (Jersey born) we were delighted to have found pizza that was on the top of our list, but most recently experienced a hateful, judgmental, and form of harassment at the establishment by the waitress and manager. It was a Friday evening 6:30 to be exact and our family of 4 which include two small children decided pizza for dinner! We had just left a NU Hockey game so I was wearing my NU scarf (maybe a trigger for the waitress) who assumed affiliation with the University? I am not sure. Next we order appetizers and my Husband and I 1 alcoholic drink. We place our full order, 2 pizzas, salad, wings, and Mac and cheese. Note we are at a two person table in front of the freezing doorway with four of us, but we understand it’s a Saturday and limited with tabletops. With the kids coloring and our food, 4 large waters are a bit much so we ask the waitress to put them away. Maybe she is mad we didn’t have enough water Intake? We receive our main course and I ask the waitress for another round of drinks for my Husband and I. About 5 minutes later the Manager comes a to the table and tells us that the waitress doesn’t feel comfortable serving another drink to us. This is shocking and surprising as we are enjoying a family meal together on a Saturday evening. There was no rowdiness, assumption of heavy drinking, and just a casual calm dinner, yet as a paying customer, a responsible adult and my Husband a US Marine currently serving his country for the past 17 years, (he was wearing a USMC sweatshirt another potential trigger possibly for the waitress)was told that we cannot fulfill your request in front of the entire restaurant and other patrons. It was high level of disrespect and shock. We asked for boxes and a check. They seemed mad at the fact we were leaving immediately. The waitress called my Husband out of his name infront of our small children, the entire restaurant. This treatment and customer service is unacceptable. I am outraged, feel profiled, and judged. I must also mention I identify as BYPOC and our family is a mixed family. To make the night even worse with upset due to their demeaning actions, our family settle in our vehicle to go home and eat our meal to immediately get pulled over by the Montpelier Police. We ask if this happened because Positive Pie called. He replied, “yes.” My children were scared, after several questions they had to ensure since the waitress claimed we could not have anymore drinks, they took my Husband out of the vehicle in -6 degree weather to do a full sobriety and breathalyzer. 45 mins later, he fully passed and only blew a .02 way under the legal limit of 0.08 and free to go. Once arriving home, we attempted to call the manager to let her know how upset, fearful, wronged, disrespected and shamed our family felt this evening. She would not come to the phone to even talk to us. Their decisions as a operating establishment are wrong and caused distress to our family. Our children will remember and we can say we will never be back and want all to know the harassment that occurred and mistreatment...
Read moreAfter a clown shoes Thanksgiving (Oven heating element sparked up like the 4th of July resulting in no Turkey or anything resembling thankfulness), my family and I bravely ventured out on a cold/wet evening in Vermont in search of any pizza parlor in a storm (that was open on Black Friday).
The Experience: Motivated by the nabbing of excellent parking (conveniently right out front of the establishment) We entered the restaurant with enthusiasm. Instantly we became baffled by the oddly placed check in kiosk. It is located in the fatal funnel of the front door, inconveniently blocking pedestrian traffic. It serves as more of a roundabout I suppose. Or an unwanted opportunity for a hungry family to do an awkward tango with full bellies fleeing their feast. Should this have been a red flag? Was I hangry? Yes. Or am I just over analyzing? We let those thoughts marinate while we waited a solid 5 minutes to be seated in an otherwise dead eatery. I know it’s not long but there were 2 tables and 3 people at the bar. Without a waiter in sight. The real red flag was our soon to be waiter (who walked by without even so much as an acknowledgment of our existence) couldn’t be bothered to reassure us that we might be getting seated soon, let alone eating. The table seater lady finally came, looking unimpressed, and schlepped us over to our spot. We had been here once before so deciding our food was a rather simple task. Our waiter arrived and took our order. He brought us waters. My wife pointed out to me that our daughters water looked brown. I concurred. The waiter returned and I pointed the contaminated water out to him. His response, “I think a little tea got in there.” I gave him the opportunity to do his job and earn his tip. Instead I had to request a new water which should have been a basic service task. Looking around I saw a lot of yawning employees who seemed to only advocate for a lethargic experience. I wasn’t expecting the Taj Mahal but my family and I cook the strong majority of our meals at home. So when we do choose to go out and spend our hard earned money, I do expect at least a basic level of good service. We ordered a family sized pizza and a pasta dish. The pasta was incredible in every way. The spices were authentic. The cheese was fresh. It was hot and the serving size was more than enough for the three of us to share. The pizza, while large in size, tasted splendid. However the sauce was too watery and made it very difficult to pick up. Not enough cheese to cover the sauce and the vegetable toppings were still raw. We slowly enjoyed our meal until the waiter started taking our plates and napkins away without asking. Would have been nice of him to ask before bussing our table while we were still eating. He even disposed of my daughters crayola artwork without asking, much to her tear filled behest. We packed up our leftovers, navigated the awkwardly placed check in kiosk yet again and headed out not to any farewell bidding but the sounds of a shutting door. Would we ever come back? Maybe after enough time has passed and the turnover rate has ushered in a new era of...
