On our way to Montrose, my friend and I decided to stop for lunch and try something new, leading us to Himalayan Pun Hill Kitchen. Initially, we were a bit puzzled by the multiple doors on the building, but we found our way in through the entrance marked clearly.
We were the only guests at the time, and a polite young woman welcomed us quietly, seated us efficiently, and promptly took our order. After a brief mix-up with the menu where they didn’t have an item we ordered, a gentleman kindly informed us and provided a menu for a new selection.
The wait for our food was reasonable, and the dishes were absolutely worth it. The flavors of the Aloo Paratha, Veggie Samosa, Chicken Sekuwa, and Chicken Korma were phenomenal—each dish offering a delightful culinary experience. The Aloo Paratha and Chicken Sekuwa, in particular, were standout favorites with their unique and simple flavors.
However, the ambiance of the restaurant did leave me pondering its cleanliness. The tablecloths, tucked under glass, had visible food stains on the overhanging portions, and the surrounding areas like the ceiling and bathroom also needed attention, showing signs of dirt and neglect.
Despite the concerns about cleanliness, the food was excellent, and the restaurant was quiet with efficient service. For those who prefer pristine dining environments, perhaps consider takeout. The flavors here are not...
Read moreWe completed the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park and we were looking for a place to have lunch. We searched near us and by seeing the reviews we decided to have lunch at Himalayan Pun Hill. The restaurant is a small restaurant beautifully decorated with the beauty of Nepal. It is also a family owned restaurant with different food options available in the menu. We were seated on the table and then greeted by the server. The server bought menus as well as water. After exploring the menu we decided to order Vegetable Momos, Matar Paneer, Chicken Chowmein and Garlic Naan. The service was nice and we soon got our Vegetable Momos. The momos were delicious and seemed like hand made rather than frozen which made it delicious. We loved the momos and one of the best Momos in USA. Then our server bought Chicken Chowmein and Matar Panner along with Garlic Naan and Rice. My wife loved the chicken chowmein. It was her favorite. She absolutely loved it. Matar Paneer was delicious too and we had it with Garlic Naan and Rice. Amazing lunch. We absolutely loved our lunch. Must try restaurant whenever you are...
Read moreNew to the area and decided to try this restaurant based on the positive reviews. Initially, I had some doubts since the exterior could use an update. Inside, we were promptly seated, though the waiter’s greeting was a bit less than warm. Only two other tables were occupied, and the silence was noticeable—no background music, just occasional kitchen sounds, making the atmosphere feel awkwardly quiet during our meal. The interior was incredibly dated, which would have been fine on its own, but coupled with the noticeable silence… it was hard to miss.
As for the food, we went with some basic dishes. They were fine, but there was something missing; I felt they could have been a bit more refined.
Overall, I see the potential, but the restaurant would benefit from a refresh and a stronger sense of ambiance. Honestly, if someone mentioned it was struggling, I wouldn’t be surprised, simply based on the atmosphere. I’m always rooting for local businesses and hope they can get some help as this could be a hidden gem with the right direction...
