I am visiting my grandma in Montrose (she has lived here for 20 years) and am used to extremely friendly people here. I went into this coffee shop with my grandma and little sister and ordered a vanilla chai latte. I asked if they have vanilla bean powder and they said yes so I asked if they could add some to my drink. I order this often at different coffee shops and love it. When I got the drink, it tasted like they put protein powder in it and it was also very thick and not good. Vanilla bean powder is very different than what they put in my drink. I asked very nicely if it would be possible to get the drink remade without whatever powder they put in and the kind male worker said that he needed to check with the manager (she had curly darker brown hair). Without even turning around to look at me she said in a very raised voice “I am not remaking that drink, I don’t remake drinks when people ask for weird variations of our drinks because it’s not our fault it tastes bad” and then another girl across the room in the drink making area said in a loud voice as well “oh yeah the girl that ordered the weird drink” they went back and forth basically yelling at me that they wouldn’t remake my drink when I asked very nicely. I wouldn’t have minded if they said no nicely and explained that it’s against policy or something, but they were very rude right off the bat unprovoked. The manager never even turned around to look at me during this whole interaction. I even tried to ask them what kind of vanilla bean powder they put in and they interrupted me to say they put some sort of vanilla powder (which is not the same as the vanilla bean powder I’ve had many times) and I could barely even get a word in to clarify anything. I finally got sick of being yelled at instead of politely spoken to (which was what I was doing) and told them that I was very polite when I asked and they didn’t need to be so rude and left. The other two employees (the sweet girl that took my order originally with light brown curly hair and the nice guy with brown hair who I asked for a remake) seemed very embarrassed by the way the other two ladies acted. And they even seemed kind of scared of the manager. I have never been treated this rude unprovoked in an establishment and I’m from LA so that’s saying a lot. My nana was extremely embarrassed and said that this is not a good reflection on Montrose...
Read moreOooh boy. At first glance, this is a neat place. The bagels are pretty tasty, their coffee is alright—though overpriced, but unfortunately I’ve had one too many occurrences where the customer service was that of dog water (really bad).
People have their off days, we all do, but every time the owner herself—curly black hair, Karma I believe is her name—has taken my order it’s been nothing but calamity to try to communicate with her.
Her employees seem to be calm and collected when under pressure taking orders. It seems she is the only one incapable of doing so herself! I’ve been interrupted in the middle of my sentences by her only to answer a question that would’ve been answered if I gave my full statement. She has berated her employees in front of my friends and I under multiple occasions for simple mistakes that can be solved without demeaning anyone.
Every time an order has been messed up, of all the workers there are/have been, it is she who has been the only person to get it incorrectly. If you’re thinking about asking to get the order fixed, forget it! Not only is it difficult to speak with because of her condescending attitude, but she does not meet you halfway to get the order corrected.
Coffee trader can get just as busy and not once have I ever received a condescending speaking to from them. Ever!
I do not mean to be abrasive. But after multiple failures to give decent customer service and have more than half of my experiences there be completely ruined by a common denominator, something has to be done. Treat your employees with respect and see your customer where they are at; especially if they are not being...
Read moreDang it! I used to really like the Looney Bean! I'm in grad school, and find that I work pretty efficiently at a coffee shop (the coffee, the atmosphere, etc). I've been mostly hitting up Cimarron, San Juan's & Coffee Traders. Today I figured I'd change it up and head over to Looney Bean to get work done. My phone was trying to connect to the wifi (I had already had the password, I've been to the Bean so many times lol) but it wasn't connecting from my phone. Shoot. So I asked the baristas if I could have the password to see if my computer would connect. Someone who seemed like the MOD shot back, "we only give out the password if you buy a drink. That's the policy". Shucks, dude! You could have been nicer about it, and maybe even taken a minute to figure out what the issue was. Bro I always buy coffee if I'm using your wifi! That's like, being a basic decent person! Dang. So that sucked. Obviously I don't want to buy coffee if your wifi isn't gonna work, since that's a big part of the reason why I'm going to the coffee shop in the first place. Apparently there was no way to find out if it was just my phone acting up or not. I was not shown the hospitality to figure out the issues. Kinda left a bad taste in my mouth tbh :/ sorry guys, you're not it...
