TL;DR - The food and service at Famous Toastery on Main Street is usually the best breakfast around, but until they implement a maximum party size (say, 8-10 maximum) I will not return nor will I bring any guests to the location.
Nevertheless, in the interest of accurate quality data and fair review, I begrudgingly cannot give lower than a 4. The food and service at this location has been second to none almost every time I've had breakfast there. However, I just had the worst breakfast of my life at this location due to a party of 27 (an elementary girls' soccer team, I believe) that came in to the restaurant and then was seated in a tight circle around my table.
It's one thing, to be sure, if a small table of young athletes is yelling behind me while I eat breakfast. Honestly, that would be fine, but the parents (which seemed to compose about half of the party) were exemplary of the most inconsiderate humans I can imagine. They crowded our table, leaning over it to talk across us (and our food) while waiting to be seated, demonstrated zero example for the girls regarding appropriate volume in a public setting, etc. I am genuinely surprised that these people didn't grab food off of my plate. Compounding these, and more, problems is the fact that NOT A SINGLE PERSON even acknowledged my parents and me at our table nor did they apologize for invading both our meal and our personal space.
At this point, were I reading this review, I would be thinking "ok man, I get it, but this situation is not the restaurant's fault." That sentiment would be true as well, if 1) the restaurant was at all appropriate for a party of more than 8, maybe 10, 2) they had asked us if we'd like to be moved so as to not be encircled by this throng, and 3) the owner had done more than come up to our table, ducking under the conversations of the shouting masses, to say "do you feel surrounded? haha."
Look... the whole thing happened really quickly and the management could not have known that the party they surrounded us with would consist of chimp-level humans. However, that's why at an establishment like this one you make sure you either have a long table for huge parties or you simply do not let them in.
My parents, bless their hearts, are preeminently understanding people. I expect they'll return before long. They may even get me to come with them. That being said, until a maximum party size is implemented, I will absolutely not be returning to this location myself or with any of my...
Read moreVery disappointing experience and I really wanted to like this place. Firstly, the service was terrible and it has taken way too long overall for a breakfast (even for the Sunday Morning). Secondly, the same meal that I ordered the last time had significantly less food (looked like a half of the portion compared to the previous visit from 3 weeks ago)! When I pointed it out, the waiter did not explain this and just ordered more sides, even without telling me that I’ll be charged for those! Those sides arrived ~20 min later, once the other waiter has already collected our empty plates.. On top of that, my partner who has also not received all of the sides from his initial order, was in the same situation as I was. It was very disappointing to see other people around us being served much faster, with much more attention than it was given to us. We’ve asked to sit down and talk about this withe the shift manager. She’s kindly apologized for that and took the half of the bill off, however based on this experience I’ll neither come back to this palce, neither...
Read moreMaybe it was a bad day but after a couple of good recommendations we went on a Saturday morning. After being seated we were greeted and quickly received our menus and coffees. After that, we waited about 10 minutes for our server to come take our order... probably because they split the servers to cover both upstairs and downstairs which makes no sense. I ordered their Classic Benedict and my wife the "custom omelette". Hers came and didn't hardly have any cheese (it was a double jack with tomato order) so we sent it back and back came another just like it. She was very disappointed as how can you not have gooey cheese on it plus it was supposed to be a "custom" order. Anyway, mine was okay but the Hollandaise sauce was soupy and not creamy. They did credit us for her meal (which was appreciated as she really didn't eat it). This was not what we expected when came so again, maybe a bad day but don't see us returning anytime soon. Atmosphere and surroundings were good. Service was so so and the food quality...
