Ate there on Saturday, 9/6/25, at 3:00 p.m. for an early dinner. It was moderately busy with a short line, but I got right in to a seat at the counter. The service staff seemed a little stressed, like maybe a few more servers were needed. I had to wait a bit for a server and then the food, but it wasn't inordinately long. I ordered the whitefish dinner (broiled) and it was very good, cooked nicely with generous portions. The side salad is not shown in the photo, it was also very good. This was my third attempt to get a good sampling of whitefish while visiting Michigan, and it was the very best. Lower cost, larger servings, and better quality than particularly one that cost considerably more! I'd definitely recommend, if you can contend with a bit of a wait if you come at a busy time.

Stayed overnight in Mackinaw, wanted a nice sit down breakfast. Unfortunately, the prices were too high in Mackinaw, decided to cross the bridge into St. Ignace and we’re glad we did! Fred’s Up North was 1/3 less expensive and the breakfast was excellent! Ate a great meal and enjoyed the friendly atmosphere. Highly recommend eating here!

Breakfast served all day. Choice of steaks, chicken, soups and fish dinners. Mashed Potatoes were watery. The hamburger steak was cooked with out any seasoning ( like some black pepper and salt). Very industrial tasting.

Ordered the Monday Meatloaf special and it was dry and lacked any flavor even smothering it with the gravy from the mashed potatoes didnt help. The gravy was also flavorless. The beans served with it were luke warm but before I could take a second bite the subzero temperature of the restaurant near bout froze them. This meatloaf special not "special" at all. I suggest you skip this day.

My daughter got the wet burrito and said it was delicious. I tried it and it was actually pretty good. But way too much for just one person to eat.

My husband got the patty melt and ate every bit of it. So, it was either good or he was just really hungry.

My 2 boys got corn dogs and one of them came out extra crispy but not in a food way. My little boy couldn't even bit it so was had to cut it up for him.

Loved the old time...

This has been a good place to go for years. We have been coming in since forever. Our parents were in from downstate who used to be locals and we went for dinner. The price was ridiculous and the food was terrible. My husband is a human garbage disposal and eats almost anything. He left over half of his plate and did not take any to go. Our dad didnt even get his drink til after we got our food. The waiter was very clipped and overall just could tell he didnt want to be there. I get that after a tough summer season but wow. We left a tip regardless but this will be the last time we eat there after 20 plus years of coming in. So long...
