I came here under the strong suggestion of some locals for the variety of beverages. And yes, they have a great selection of North Carolina beers and more than just "Miller Lite" which is so popular around here. I commend them for their selection and accommodating those with a bit more well rounded beer taste buds.
However, I was greatly set back from the meal. I ordered their Surf and Turf which consisted of crab legs and steak, as well as some sides. The side Cheddar Gouda Mac & Cheese was good, however this is where the problem shows up. The Surf and Turf were delivered on the same plate. Now this sometimes isn't an issue, however the crab legs which usually contain a lot of excess water from boiling must have been tossed on the plate immediately after boiling, which then submerged the steak in crab water. Thus altering the flavor of the steak. Which to be honest, it was cooked to medium rare, but the flavoring on the steak tasted like they just threw a bunch of Montreal seasoning onto it and called it a day. It was not a creative flavor.
I did mention it to the bartender, who did apologize for it, and walked in to the kitchen, at which point the second bartender apologized and offered for them to take it back and bring out a new one. While I could have given them a second chance at recreating the meal, I am not one that likes to be wasteful, knowing that meal would probably just get thrown out. After that nothing more was done. Usually a restaurant would at least give you a discount on your meal if they didn't get a chance to redo it. But that was never done. I might go back for the beers and try something else, but I'll avoid the...
Read moreWe showed up, group of 11, and were seated upstairs despite there only being two other tables occupied downstairs. We waited about 5 minutes before our drink order was taken and we put in two appetizers at that time. Our appetizers arrived about 15 minutes later, before we even had our drinks (no alcoholic or bar drinks were ordered- just soda, water, and teas). Appetizers (wings and fried pickles) were very tasty! We put in our food order at that time. We waited another 30-40 minutes for our food to arrive. During this wait, we went downstairs and refilled several of our drinks ourselves at the bar. When the food finally arrived, it tasted great for most people. I personally thought the seafood Mac and cheese was a little bland, but it wasn't horrible. The texture of some of the shrimp wasn't as firm as I would personally like and it seemed slightly undercooked. I go to take a drink of my tea and there was a bug in my glass. I don't mean a small one, but about 3/4 inch long. At that point, we were all completely over the experience. A member of our party went downstairs and let them know about everything and showed them the bug. We were told that they were very short staffed and they apologized and took $100 off the bill and gave us a card for $35 off our next dining experience. No one finished their food and we left, thoroughly disappointed. We understand being short staffed and that sometimes things don't work out, but they were not busy. There were only a few other tables downstairs...
Read moreThis place has great reviews so we were eager to give it a try. First impression was good. Beautiful logo/resturaunt front, cute location, appeared clean, seemed to have higher end menu and beer options.
However, my young son had the kid's burger sliders and after a few bites stated there was an unpleasant smell coming from his burger. So, I smelled the burger for myself. It indeed had the smell of an old butcher shop/old blood. Shortly after consuming, he had stomach pain, nausea, and a general feeling of being unwell- we spent quite a bit of time in the resturaunt bathroom due to this. My chili came out cool to the touch, I kindly requested it be warmed up, they obliged and took the bowl away to warm. It did come back a little warmer, enough to consume a small amount, but not enough to melt the cheese.
Some good things: their fried pickles were really good, the French fries were hot and well seasoned. Their beer menu/options on tap is diverse. The waitress was very knowledgeable about the menu and shared her recommendations.
We will not return due to my son becoming ill, and I can't recommend Tight Lines Pub to friends. But, if you're just looking for beer, this place might be worth...
