Review based after few visits to buffet, a ala carte and take out orders 'Buffet- You get value for the price you pay. You get a decent variety and flavorful dishes. It is given that you might not like all but you will have few favorites.
A la Carte and Take out - Never order trays Ordered Chicken Family Biriyani pack Got charred burned chicken pieces 4-5 pieces nothing more. Mutton Korma would have been on the point if they had not decided to add lots of red chillies which spoiled the Korma( Kormas are'nt supposed to be so hot that you might get a " lift off" to the space.
Chicken 65 I don't get why it has to be tossed with a mild sauce which would then become chilli chicken and they have Chilli Chickenon the menu too. That is the case with most of the restaurants in the triangle where they toss the 65 with sauce or load it vinegar Requested to be without sauce and got without sauce and it was OK not great. Would have prefered few fried curry leaves along with the dish.
Murg Malai Kebab - why are kebabs tossed in a pan with diced onion and adding vinegar to the kebabs - The kebabs would be just fine the way they come out of tandoor with a sprinkle of lemon juice, a dash of chat masala , sprinkle of green corriander/ cilantro sprigs if they had any and few drops of ghee or melted butter Spoiled it with...
Read moreI was a huge fan of the old place, Dawat. Gave this new place 2 tries. They have stepped up the flavors and the spice. I'm not Indian, so I don't really know...but my guess is it's a different region or more authentic. Food very flavorful. This I loved. HUGE PROBLEM: With all but one chicken dish (chicken tikka masala, or on anther day butter chicken) they cook bone in. The chicken curry, pepper chicken, chicken biryani...all bone in. And the chicken is essentially chopped and splintered and in fragments stirred into the dish. That may be authentic and the flavor may be great (and it was), but I (despite picking through it) had bone fragments and splinters in every bite. I was afraid I'd break a tooth! It was inedible. I told the owner on one visit. The manager on another. They didn't seem to care. Unfortunately Americans are a large part of their business. Service very poor too. My nan came midway between my meal. I had to ask 2 to 3 times for a coke. So, I'm done.
RESPONSE: Thank you for reading and responding. That means a lot! The flavor fantastic and the spices fantastic. I can also live with poor service for great food. Mainly addressing so many bone pieces and other inedible parts in the dish. I understand makes for richer flavor...just makes for difficult...
