Me and my daughter first time ordering from Eli's Coffee shop. We made our orders online and headed to Morton, IL. We arrived at 5:25pm parking is limited and really not designed for huge trucks. They have a small sign in front of the place but it's hard to see the sign due to where the customers have to park their vehicles. It's a house so we walk in duck tape arrow to follow. So we see one female speaking about non related work issues can't see the other one but can hear their entire conversation. After three minutes still no acknowledgement the female comes out and she ask what was my order. I gave my name because I order online. She said it will be ready at 5:40pm. Now, it's 5:40pm two customers came in from the street she addressed them right away and made their drinks and I'm still waiting. Seventeen minutes after the fact of when my order should of been done I finally get to leave. Poor customer service. They should really acknowledge the customers that are waiting being that we can hear you and see you. FIVE STARS is for the food. I order the chicken, apple, onions and sauce sandwich. It was good and hot. I order the fruit and lemon cream even better. Everything was so good and fresh. I will be taking another drive to try their drinks just hoping for better customer...
Read moreI have been coming to Eli's since 2010, and I moved to Morton in 2019. I have loved the atmosphere and quaint ambiance for years. I used to work and study at Eli's. Now I'm quite busy, but I pop in from time to time for a to go order. Over time I have observed the attitude of the baristas growing ever more entitled and without regard or understanding that customer service requires a polite interaction with patrons. This AM the servers demonstrated not being trained well on the new checkout system. I offered grace and encouragement, but when I asked the server to make sure the cups I was reaching for were my orders, she completely snapped at me. When I said thank you, she turned away and put her head down- that was my experience, and this is my common experience at Eli's lately- seems to be the work culture. The baristas behave as though the customers' questions and pleasantries are a hassle, and it takes a long time to get an order ready. The service/product is not good enough to tolerate rudeness. I love to support local businesses, but at this point, why wouldn't I go to Starbucks where I know I will receive friendly, helpful service? ...
Read moreI wanted to give them a 5, I really did. Let's talk about the things that are good. I love the aesthetics, I love the history, and my hot coffee had great flavor. The downsides, while small in detail, were frustrating in principle. I ordered my wife a Chi Tea Latte with vanilla cold foam; the same drink we would get from Starbucks, Faire, or The Blend. We were informed that they would not put the cold foam on the drink... not that they don't have it because they offer it on other drinks, just not on that one. I was perplexed as to why they couldn't dump the same cold foam that is available on other drinks on to the drink I had ordered. I know it is a mild inconvenience, but the lack of ability for anyone on staff to rationalize it for me was the frustrating part. I then tried to order cold foam on the side, but to no avail. In the end, we were left with a Chi Tea Latte that tasted much like water, lacked the normal presentation of cinnamon and smooth cold foam. Just a frustrating experience. I miss the days when small businesses went out of their way to gain...
