I'm giving this place only two stars for a specific reason. Now, it is a fantastic atmosphere (best in town), great live music venue, wonderful people, great food and coffee, etc. But-- what is ultimately most important when you go out to eat and drink is the service. Now, the baristas/servers here are great people, polite, etc. But-- if you go here to eat with a friend (a common scenario), you are guaranteed to not be able to eat AT THE SAME TIME. The service is crazy slow. Because they only have one micro-wave. It can take them as long as 15min to do a 30sec microwave job on your food. They'll serve up yours or your friends' food, which you have to get up and go get yourself, then wait another 10min for your friends' order to come up. And, your coffees may come up separately from each other and your food. So, you could end up getting up from your table, interrupting your convo, 3-4 times just to eat with a friend, and there is no chance you will start or finish eating together. Then, you have to bus your own dishes. And, for all that, the baristas had the nerve to ask for a tip when you paid! Oftentimes there is a very long line for food and coffee here, while three baristas are standing around waiting for something in the microwave. This condition often causes them to forget one part of an order, and the customer, who has been waiting, not knowing the barista forgot his order, has to go up and ask about it, and then wait another long time to get it! Unbelievably amateurish service while bragging about world-class barista work. Very frustrating in such a nice place-- and all this could be fixed by the addition of a cheap microwave or two... but, no. I wrote a similar review a year ago, and then was asked by the owner to take it down, and told she would fix the problems. Well, a year later, the situation is the same-- one microwave, etc., So, this time the...
Read moreI love them, always have always will. Service is great comfort is top notch food is yummy but unfortunately the customers are a bunch of Plague Rats and I will not being going there any longer (until this ever gets resolved). Only like a 1/5 (maybe less) of the people were wearing mask even though Moscow requires all indoor patrons to do so, but the place was crowded with many people inside for a prolonged time who were not eating or drinking on their computer and not wearing a mask; and definitely not social distancing.
I was sitting there quietly, minding my own business wearing a mask and I was literally harassed by fellow customers for "being one of those" obviously politically motivated people who forces people to violate body autonomy. What?? I was by myself said not a single word and was just waiting for my sandwich. To prevent people from what seemed like purposefully walking close to me I had to stick out my leg into the isle quite far just to get people to stop brushing up on me while seated and walking down the wide enough path. Sorry, I just don't want to die, get anything amputated or being on lung support for the rest of my life. While you're on SSI the rest of your life I'll be working to support you so how about not being rude.
Definitely not Bucer's fault (not really) but if you are looking for haven for fellow covidiots where the mask rule is not enforced and you might catch a deadly disease alongside your morning joe, this is the place for you! Everyone else might want to consider the other coffee shops along main that have a less political herd mentality set and a more health conscious...
Read moreBest coffee in town! Warm, convivial atmosphere. Mornings are my personal favorite, as the atmosphere is most quiet and studious, and the smell of freshly roasted coffee lingers. In the morning you will mostly see students studying, or friends meeting for coffee. Weekend evenings are always great with fun live music, but generally packed, so on the weekend come for the atmosphere and music, not to study quietly.
The used books are also great. My kids love reading a book while they’re there, and I often end up buying one or two. Well curated selection.
Pastry selection is great, and always fresh. Food is somewhat limited in choice for lunch items, but always very tasty. Great beer selection as well. Their wine and cheese platter is also a nice treat.
As you can perhaps infer, Bucers has been a favorite place for the last 15 years that I’ve lived in Moscow.
Good wifi (now on fiber). Very friendly staff.
An absolute must-visit place in Moscow. If you are passing through and want a taste of downtown Moscow, this is your one stop. If you live here, you’ll probably find...
