My 1st ever restaurant review post. The good: Wait staff were all AWSOME!! I just hope owner treats them better than he treats customers!! Chips, salsa, beer were OK. Overall, quality ingredients.
Needing improvement: Spinach in enchiladas, very overcooked. Chicken was partially raw.
Unacceptable: Granted this all took place during a busy Sat eve, during WSU Moms' Weekend. Still does not justify what the proprietor did (as described below, IMHO)... The OWNER,who was seating guests, removed all 5 of us after we had just been seated inside & made us sit in the cold outside patio, which was uber-embarrassing & put damper on our entire eve. To be fair, we had initially sat down at patio table while waiting for what were told was a 1hr wait. Outside, waitress told us that we could order & eat outside, to which we agreed to do so if the portable heater could be turned on. She told us that heater could indeed be turned on. However, it turns out the heater was out of order. So we thought we'd just try to tough it out, but then our name for inside table was called(15 min instead of 1 hr), as announced by the mom of my daughter's boyfriend( in our party) who was returning from ladies rm. Of course, freezing by now, we moved inside to what we thought was our table. But within 3 minutes, the owner rushed over to tell us that we had to go back outside to eat because we had already agreed to an outside table. So my daughter, her boyfriend, her boyfriend's mother, & my wife got up from table & so did I, reluctantly after protesting to owner, to no avail. Not only were we publicly humiliated in front of other customers, my daughter broke down in tears because she felt I was making a scene because I argued about moving. Of course, this was extremely awkward for the others in our party. I ended up feeling like the bad guy just because the owner violated a cardinal rule of customer service 101!!! Thanks to the owner, not only was our dining experience ruined, but our eve had a black cloud hanging over it. I still left 20% tip (not his staff's fault their boss is a...
Read moreWell I should have been wary of ordering pozole in a Tex-Mex place. I said what the hell let me try it. I have never had pozole void in flavor like that. It tasted like boiled "hot dog," water. I told the waiter to take it away. He said "do you want me to box it up for you." Why would anyone want to take something home that was so bad. I get the bill they charged me for it any way. I went to the manager as they waiter never asked what was wrong or if I want something else. I told the manager there was something seriously wrong with the pozole. Asked if "have you ever had it." I said of course I have all over the place, even have made it myself" He said "well people flavor it different ways." My wife said it was "void of flavor." He rudely replied with "well the wait staff on I had some in the back and it was fine." First, you should be ashamed of yourself to talk to a customer that way. Second, you should be embarrassed to serve "hot dog," water as pozole then blame it on "different flavor." He yelled and said I take it off not wanting to. I said "I will never eat here again and you have just lost a customer." He yelled back "well let me take care of the whole bill for you then sir." Don't eat there. Rude terrible manager and wait staff. The food I had was terrible. The other texmex was mediocre at best. Save your money. And eat else where in Moscow you will be sorry if you eat at La Casa Lopez. You should have to pay for terrible food then have a manager tell you it's your felt for calling...
Read moreWe came here during the dinner rush so some of my cons might be because of their business. After about 10/15 mins of waiting for a table, we elected to be seated outside. It was a very nice atmosphere, not too loud or busy even though it was dinner rush. My daughter got a high chair and crayons with a picture.
The complementary bean dip and spicy salsa were very flavorful but when I asked for a mild salsa, it was a pretty bland tomato sauce, wouldn't recommend. We ordered our food and it came in a reasonable amount of time. The food was not as good as I was expecting but it was not terrible either. I ordered a chimichanga. It was supposed to come with cheese, I didn't find any on my plate or in the chimichanga. The rice was a little less flavorful than your average mexican restaurant and the beans were alright. My chimi was covered with the mild "salsa" I ordered earlier for my chips, which didn't hinder the dish but also didn't make it taste better. Looking back, I'm not sure my chimi was even fried(as they are supposed to be). The meat inside was very tender though. It was pretty easy to eat.
Wait service could use a little more training. There were a couple times I was looking for my server but couldn't find her, we would have appreciated a couple more check ins than we had. When she brought boxes for our food, she should have also brought the check. We almost walked out after boxing up our food because we forgot about the check.
Overall, this restaurant is...
