Nov. 18, 2021 - Owner Chris Beck opened the Mt. Airy Inn 11 years ago, in 2010 . . . We often would come in after church on Sundays for the great sandwiches or breakfast items with our friends. We moved to Maine 6 years ago. We suggested to our friends who picked us up at BWI airport today, “let’s STOP for drinks”! Here we are. . . Back in town at the Mt. Airy Inn, feels like coming HOME to the best beer list 🍺🍺 in miles , and excellent brick oven pizza! 🍕🍕. “Sam” served up a flight (5 beers) from a long list of choices! *My Beers 😎* Silver Branch Dr. Juicy & Mr. Nugs IPA Goose Island Christmas IPA Yuengling Hershey Porter Black Flag Divining Rod IPA Red Shedman Strawberry Shortcake Cider Over the years we’ve tried most everything on their menu, from the soups & salads, to the homemade brick oven pizzas, to the sandwiches, seafood, chicken dishes, to meatloaf. It’s all good comfort food, served with a smile and “ aim to please” everyone that comes in the door. During the Covid era they’ve added a big tent in the front parking lot to triple their outside table service! Hopefully we wrap up this pandemic, take the big tent down, and return to one of my favorite restaurants in Mt. Airy ! I rate this a solid 4.6 establishment . . . thanks to the folks at Mt. Airy Inn, for all the good food & BEER ! *Background on Mt. The Mt. Airy Inn is a bona fide local favorite and one helluva good restaurant! Becoming a semi-regular and have NEVER been disappointed. The food is excellent. Brick oven pizza is probably the most popular, but the entrees, starters, and handhelds are also terrific. But perhaps surprisingly, the breakfast is out-of-this-world fabulous. It's not downtown and frilly, but it is standard farmer's fare, it's served all day, and it is BETTER than The Breakfast Shoppe or any other MD joint you can name - and i've been to them ALL (yes, ALL)! The beer selection is mostly local, pouring craft brews from Frederick to Baltimore. What's perhaps most impressive is the KITCHEN CONSISTENCY. This is an almost impossible feat, of any caliber of restaurant or price point, but these good peeps pull it off. Can't say enough about this. It's a heck of an accomplishment. The servers are local kids and folks, and it shows. They represent Mt. Airy well - taking great pride in a beloved, historic small town. The ambiance is cozy and homey, and there's even a fireplace. They can even accommodate private parties in the upper, secluded dining room. DO. NOT. SKIP if you're passing through or en route to Frederick, Westminster, Sykesville, Ellicott City, etc. You owe it to yourself. A true go-to for great down-home food and service.

I'd call it the most consistently tasty restaurant in Maryland. Been back countless times and have always been content to stay a while and satisfied by the food. Since we moved to Mt. Airy this place has become a true local staple. The space is always clean, super cozy, and has very friendly staff. The menu is delicious and we're always satisfied with portions and price. It's the perfect place to take visiting family. Breakfast is always available and it's delicious! Bartenders, hosts and waiters make the place exceptionally hospitable. After dinner in October a waitress told us about the doors on the ceiling and the ghost that lives upstairs! This December we were warmed by dark roast beer and freshly squeezed mimosas at the bar. We've found that every once in a while the meat is overdone. Some days it is perfect! It has become rather "hit or miss" on whether or not we will have a well overdone chicken breast/ steak. All in all, we love Mt. Airy Inn! Mt. Airy wouldn't be the same without it :)

We had such a terrible experience today (2nd visit) that we will NEVER, EVER, EVER go back! I will also make sure no one I know goes here ever again Waited 25 minutes for a table when they had plenty open, finally got sat but in the smallest table for a party of 5 (4 adults & a child). We asked if we could move to the larger table that would fit our party but was told it was being saved for a large party yet no one ever sat there the entire time we were there. We had to physically move the table just to have space for everyone because it was so close to the railing & in a very inconvenient spot. The server came over & took our drink order, dropped off our drinks & didn't come back for 15-20 minutes because she chose to take 2 other tables orders (who came in AFTER us). She finally came back to take our order & then did not come back to our table AT ALL for 50-55 minutes (I made a call when we got there so I was able to judge the time off that). We were looking around for our food, a manager, or our server but everyone kept rushing past us as if we didn't exist. When we noticed another table had got their food & we were STILL waiting we started realizing it had been an hour, we hadn't had a single refill on any of our drinks that we got an hour ago & the server wasn't even acknowledging us. I don't want to say discrimination played a part in this but it DEFINITELY did. There wasn't ANY diversity in this place so a few of us got some dirty looks like we shouldn't even be there when we walked in originally so we should have known but assumed because our first visit was great that wee would have the same experience. NOT! As we were leaving, the server did not ONCE apologize, she just said "okay, do you want the manager?!" She had absolutely no compassion & did not care whatsoever. We were literally walking down the stairs when SUDDENLY our food was FINALLY coming up! At that point, we were so done we just wanted to pay for the drinks & leave. I let the manager know what was going on & once again, no apology just constant "we were busy", "your food was coming" but 3 other tables had got their food before us & came in AFTER us. We didn't get an apology until she followed us outside & we were able to explain the situation in detail. While inside, we were treated as if we should just leave because we didn't matter in front of all the customers & staff who were staring but outside was different story when no one was around to overhear how awful the service was. We had to get upset, walk down stairs, grab the GM's card & walk out of the restaurant BEFORE ANYONE apologized for how we were treated. We were treated like absolute dirt when we were so excited for this food. We had a child with us & had to ask for a kids menu, we had elderly people with us who had to climb stairs because for some reason we couldn't sit in any of the open tables downstairs, just an awful experience! We are MAJOR supporters of small businesses but this one left us completely disappointed & we will...

Edit: I think its funny that the person that replied to my review only touched on the points that i mentioned that she felt like she needed to defend, what about the other thingd about Travis? the way he treats the waitresses? and there is a line between fun banter and flirting, its very obvious. Now my next thought is, will they reply to this edit? Funny how they can reply to my review but I can't reply to their comment.

Bri is AMAZING!!! Literally if it were not for Bri we wouldn’t come back, she’s so pleasant, friendly and over all AMAZING!! She deserves so much credit and a raise for sure!! She was the only waitress we saw running around to make sure her tables were happy and taken care of! Give Bri a raise!!

Travis the bartender however, was rude, took 15 minutes to get 1 9ounce class of wine. He yells at the waitresses for not knowing what a drink contains. He refuses to help the waitresses deliver the drinks. He just sets them on the counter and waits for them to realize that the drink is there. I could have got up and grabbed the wine for Bri who was running around super busy upstairs and downstairs. Travis acts like he owns the place.

The GM was there while we were there and we watched her give a giant order to an elderly woman on crutches, not by the handle, she sat it in her arms. How In the world do you expect her to carry that huge order out to her car while she’s on crutches!! It was sickening, before I could get up to help her someone beat me to it. For someone who is a GM you would think she would be willing to help that customer. But no. She watched her struggle as other people helped her!!!! SICKENING!!!!! She could have walked out the order. She and Travis are really flirty, throwing ice, bags at each other, putting boxes on each others heads. No wonder it took so long to get 1 glass of...
