Long review but seriously do yourself a favor and go to Black Cat for coffee. Not only will you get THE BEST coffee, but you will also support a small business.
I started going to Black Cat shortly after they opened, but kept meaning to leave a review and now it's time. There are so many positive things I can say about this coffee ship and virtually no negatives. The decor and atmosphere make for a very relaxing experience if you are staying in. There is just something about being in there that makes you feel relaxed and it's a perfect place to hang out with someone, to study, or get your creative juices flowing like their amazing coffee.
Now their coffee is by far the best coffee I've ever had. I typically get the pumpkin praline latte and while I'm not normally a pumpkin spice girl, I can't help but go to this drink year round. You don't get that thick syrup mouth feel that you get at standard franchise coffee shops. The lattes here are seriously as smooth as velvet and taste like heaven.
Now, what else could make a coffee shop so perfect aside from amazing coffee and a great atmosphere? The staff and baristas. The staff here is always welcoming and make you feel like you are family and I mean they are responsible for the heavenly coffee that is made here. These employees need to seriously write manuals on how to be a perfect employee.
Even though it may cost more than the franchise chains, it is so worth the extra money and I will always come back. Even my husband who is not a big coffee drinker raves and talks for days after getting coffee about how...
Read moreI visited this coffee house over this last weekend. It has a warm and inviting atmosphere, making it a great place to relax and enjoy a drink. The ambiance was comfortable, and it's easy to see why it's a local favorite. However , my experience with the service was less than ideal. I ordered a latte and specifically requested it to be extra hot. The person taking my order passed the request along, but unfortunately, the drink was barely warm when I received it. I politely asked whether my request had been noted and the barista confirmed it had. She did offer to remake it, but given that I was with others, I didn't want to make a fuss.I decided to keep the drink as it was. Rather than acknowledging the situation with a simple apology or understanding , the barista seemed annoyed that I didn't want a remake, and I later overheard her complaining about it to coworkers. This reaction felt unnecessary and unprofessional. It's understandable that mistakes happen, but a small amount of kindness and courtesy goes a long way in making guests feel valued. While the coffee shop's environment was lovel, the attitude of the staff put a damper on the experience. I hope that in the future, customer service will match the welcoming atmosphere that this spot...
Read moreJust by looking at Mount Clemens as you drive through it (or around it thanks to the confusing, disjointed circle that is Gratiot) you could easily miss some of the fun, unique, friendly and chill places like Blsck Cat Coffee and its next door neighbor, Clementines. My recommendation is to stop, walk around, and definitely grab a latte or hot chocolate (or coffee of course) from Black Cat. Or, you could hop into Clementines, the cute, chic bakery/pastry shop next door and grab a snack there to eat while you are keeping warm and chatting over a cup of freshly brewed coffee at Black Cat. Either way, it's a win win. The interior is a but neo-gothic blended with urban chic and the red and black walls look super Interesting under the silver, highly ornate ceiling. There are couches, tables, a large table up a short flight of steps for group meetings/gatherings and a chill soundtrack playing over the speakers to keep...
