The waitress with her gum smacking was rude beyond words , we sat ourselves , we got our own menus, silverware, napkins , asked three different waitresses for lemon for water . The food took extremely long but we were provided a show with the employees using vulgar words in and out of the kitchen . My wife’s food had what appeared to be hair in it but wait the waitress said it was egg no worries ! The waitress came to table and addressed my wife as “ momma” what else do you want to eat ? We respectfully said nothing but that wasn’t good enough for her she continued to address my wife as momma in a condisening way. We told her that was disrespectful and she used words that I will not bother to repeat . When asked to speak to a manager she walked out of the kitchen where she continued to talk badly of us and raised her hands in the air to us and said “What?” I was walking behind her to the front of the store and I could hear her say how we were very rude. She’s had to deal with customers all morning if this is what the day is going to be like she should just go home. We asked if she was the manager and she said yes and laughed . We told her okay and asked the young man for the owners information he replied they are out of town . If you want it, you’ll have to look it up online. If this is how customers are treated in Haystack’s we will not be going back and would encourage others to think twice...
Read moreAll in all, this is a country diner with no consistent theme, a huge menu, and a great place for your down home country folk who have been coming here for years.
My mom and I decided to give this restaurant a second try today. We stopped in at 12:30. This is a seat-yourself restaurant. The chairs all have their own black book-cover style chair slips. Every table had fun salt and peppers and advertisements for other local businesses.
Mom got a chicken blt wrap with tots and I got a Turkey melt with fries.
It took 45 minutes for food to come out. My french fries were hot but had no flavor whatsoever. Well, I could taste the fryer oil, but that’s about it. Neither the BLT nor the melt really tasted like anything. If it weren’t for the Texas Pete hot sauce on the table, I wouldn’t have eaten much, if I’m being honest. My sandwich was supposed to come with grilled onions. It did have them, but they were only grilled enough for the sharp onion flavor to be gone, not enough for them to taste like grilled onions or for them to be soft. They crunched for sure.
Mom also got unsweetened tea, and when it was refilled, he didn’t feel the glass all the way, and didn’t add any more ice, so it was very quickly room temperature.
We have been here twice, and as this was no better then last time, we’re going to assume this is normal. We won’t be...
Read moreAre you kidding me!! We have been here here multiple times. It has been a little slow in the past. We bring two small children with us so waiting becomes an issue. Today! An hour after our arrival we still had not been served. Our order consisted of 3 orders of bacon, 1 order of biscuits and gravy with grits, 1 egg combo with poached eggs, bacon and grits and toast, 1 egg combo with eggs over medium, grits, sausage patties and biscuit, and 1 childs plate with scrambled eggs and sausage links. So I figured the only thing that needed cooked was the the eggs. Most likely there is a supply of meats want to serve. I could be wrong. Now the bad part. I asked who was is charge and was told "the owner isn't her and no one is in charge, we all just try to manage". Then I was told that since the time stamp on the order it had only been 45 minutes. 45 MINUTES! For 5 eggs and plating!? So much for the food. The restaurant itself is horribly dirty. As I was walking through the store, from the front to and including the restroom, my feet were sticking to the floor. The table had been wiped but still had a tackiness to it. The restroom smells lit a portable. Our waitress, Hannah was adequate. However receiving our meal she never returned. Bad day for the owner to take a day off. We...
