If you love authentic Mexican food, don't miss eating at Los Compadres just outside downtown Mt. Dora. I lived 17 years in Mexico and the food here is authentic, flavorful, filling, at a nice price. Today I had chicharron (pork rind), lengua (tongue), and chorizo tacos. The lengua was tender, tasty. The chicharron is maybe my favorite, though the chorizo was very good too. They also have the standards like chicken, pork, beef barbacoa tacos from $1.99 to $2.19. There's a salsa bar with cilantro and other trimmings. My super sized non-alcoholic pina colada drink was great too, 1 liter for $3.50. This beats any of the Mexican restaurants within miles of here. There are a lot of choices on the menu, not just tacos. I saw a fajitas dish that looked quite good and there are tortas, quesadillas, beef broth soup, etc. On Saturday and Sunday they also serve menudo, pozole, caldo de cameron. The menudo to go is $10.99 and large enough to get two servings from. Don't let the Spanish menu put you off. Use Google Translate....it will be worth your while. By the way, they also have my favorite potato chips Sabritas "Adobados".

I have only been here twice for their food, and I can say they are hands down some of the best tacos I’ve ever had in my life. I only speak English, and the entire staff are so friendly and really work with me despite any language barriers. I told who I think is the owner that I would learn Spanish so that I could order better, and she told me that she is not worried about that, and she is just happy for my business. The market and meat market side are also amazing. If I could give this place 10 stars, I would.

The quality of the food that's really good the prices are old also good because you have to understand they have a meat market right next to it now I think the for the quality and the prices you know I'll give it a 4 start would I go back again I think I will I order a state slate with one fresh water drink in a ended up being like 17 almost $18 dollars

First time in Mt dora and decided to stop by this location to eat in the restaurant since the reviews said it was good. Me and my family ordered the tacos and we also ordered a whole fish. The tacos were just okay. The fish that was brought out to us was brought out raw and the small bite that we did have was not good at all. When I brought up my issue to the staff they did offer to recook it but I declined. The staff did take the fish off my bill so I do appreciate the good customer service that was provided. Based on my visit alone I would say just stick with the tacos if your going to visit. I personally don't think I will...

Being the closest Mexican store to me,I gets all 5 stars. I always go in there but today on my visit there, I noticed it was more organized, newer products and new employees. Plus they had fresh made churros by the register! Yum! Their prices are a bit higher then bigger stores but I can understand it’s a small business. The restaurant inside always makes fresh made to order yummy food. Oh and they now accept EBT which is a BIG plus!!! They also have kitchen accessories, authentic boots, piñatas and a little bit of everything! Great service always as well!! Muy...
