Our family loves our special ritual of donuts every weekend and our larger family has been searching for a non-chain donut place to have as a staple for these outings…..well we FOUND IT! This morning myself, my husband and 3 of our young kids stopped in after finding this place on google. It’s 22 minutes from our house and well worth the drive passing several other donut options to get there. We ordered 18 donuts, a coffee and a dozen donut holes to try out with our family of 7. They politely asked if we had company but were excited to tell them just how much our big family loves donuts!
Staff: absolutely may actually be one of the highest “it” factors for this place after the donuts. Women at the counter were friendly, polite, smiling, HAPPY to be there and share their donuts! When we walked out, we also had a gentleman give us a quick wave and thank us for stopping in. We got free donut holes while standing and ordering our donuts. They filled the boxes quickly and were pleasant and chatty for a Sunday morning donut run. They all made it feel so welcoming and made it easy for us to confirm we would be back!
….the important part….Donuts: They were huge. I understand why they asked if we had company! Even with a family of 7, we have a ton of donuts left for our dessert tonight. My 1 year old daughter got to have her first donut experience trying these out and she is HOOKED! Donut breakdown for what we tried today— Glazed yeast raised donuts & donut holes: amazing with a buttery smooth tasting glaze that wasn’t too sweet on the fluffiest donut! Sugar covered yeast raised: one of my favorites. It kept a spotlight on the fluffy yeast raised donut with that little bit of gritty sugar texture. Not too sweet, I especially loved this one! Maple bacon bar: GET THIS!!!! GET A LOT!!! we had to fight over the ones I ordered and even cutting these big ones in half didn’t keep us satisfied! We all wanted more! The maple glaze was not over powering at all (highly enjoyed) and the bacon…..absolutely guarantee this is fresh and real bacon with the perfect crunch and salty goodness! I have had so many maple bacon donuts that use a bagged bacon bit topping and while those may still be “good,” this one was FANTASTIC with the real bacon! Chocolate/vanilla frosted with sprinkles: always a kid favorite that didn’t disappoint. All 5 kids gave these a thumbs up and thought they were “realllllly good.” Cinnamon roll: this thing is the size of the entire state of Florida. We needed a forklift to help us get it into the car. Definitely something to split. Apple fritter: this is huge! We split it 4 ways! Real chunks of apple were good. It’s a thinner style fritter rather than puffy but was perfect to dip in coffee…….. …speaking of coffee: my husband got one because our machine at home was giving him lots of trouble before we ventured out. He is a coffee connoisseur and is very particular which is why he has all the crazy machines and right kind of beans at home. He was pleased with their coffee. He was so happy to have a “good cup of coffee” from someplace!
The only disappointment in our donut experience was that we forgot we wanted to try more of their cake donuts or filled donuts but we KNOW we will return to try these and will hopefully remember to update this review with that! However, we did get a free sour cream donut in addition to the donut holes while we waited. We were pleasantly surprised to see that donut in the box and loved it. I could actually taste it was a sour cream donut which often doesn’t happen!
A definite 5 star donut place. Yes the donuts were great but you really cannot beat how these owners/staff treat the entire experience to entice you to make this into your regular donut joint! Extremely happy I decided to google donut shops again so we could break away from grocery store donuts (the price is comparable for huge donuts here!) ever since we swore off chain donut places that just never compare.
Hats off to King’s Donuts! Thanks for the Sunday morning tradition in our family getting to experience...
Read moreI really wanted to like this place and to give it another shot. I should’ve trusted my instinct and gone to Dunkin’. Cost is cheaper, & if U want a fancy one like an apple fritter it’s over a dollar less than it is at King’s donuts And Boston creams are the same price as a regular doughnut At Dunkin & every Donut place in America Plus, I can easily go to the Dunkin app and see what the prices are and there’s no language barrier. The first time I came to Kings was on my husband‘s birthday He loves apple fritters and I wanted to put a candle in it & sing him happy birthday when he got up but When I opened the box after I got home, there was this large burnt completely flat pastry with no apple in it. I took it back and got my money back. It’s been a few years, but I thought that they deserve another shot and I’ve been craving donuts so I went back this morning. You can’t find an online menu And they won’t answer the phone when you call. Decided to get a half a dozen and a bear claw for hubby because that has apple filling in it because I can’t trust the Apple fritter. 15,00 . I pulled away without even thinking and then I opened the box and I’m like wait a minute they charged me for a dozen. They owe me 6 more donuts or at the least 4 because of the bear claw. When I got up to the window I was told they charged that much because the Boston creams have filling? I didn’t know they didn’t consider a Boston cream the same as a regular doughnut like every donut maker in America and I’m still doing the math and it still doesn’t add up And they didn’t wanna make it right. I won’t ever go back. There is no third chance. I...
Read moreGiving this place 2 stars instead of 1 because the donuts were good. But my whole experience from start to finish was not a good one. The place is gross, everything looks filthy and falling apart. Also their staff doesn't seem to know what they're doing. I ordered a cappuccino, after some difficulty because the first girl I spoke with didn't seem to understand me. All I wanted was a cappuccino with hazelnut. She didn't seem to understand what I was saying, even though it was on their menu. Then another woman came over, she said she could try to make it for me but she wasn't sure if I was gonna like it. I thought that was an odd thing to say. I said ok, yes I'd like a cappuccino. So she made it and brought it out and she said "If you don't like, I won't be offended."Again, kind of an odd thing to say Well it was not good. My biggest issue was the temperature. It wasn't even lukewarm. It tasted like coffee that was made an hour ago and had been sitting on the counter. I also requested low sugar and instead it was extremely sweet. When I told her this she apologized and asked if I wanted her to microwave it. What kinda coffee and donuts place microwaves their coffee. I said no, I don't want my coffee microwaved. She just stood there and stared. I expected her to offer a refund. She did not. I threw the coffee in the trash. I don't know how much they charged me for that, I think it was like $5 or $6. What a waste of money. I could have gone to the gas station and gotten better...
