This was our first time here and to say the least was an unpleasant experience. We were a party of 10 and understand the staffing shortages that is going on at all hospitality establishments but we arrived around 6:40 & seated and a kids meal, drinks & appetizers ordered & meal orders placed before appetizers came out. After waiting about 20 mins, asked how much longer the kids meal was going to be, was told the kitchen was working on it. The appetizers came out (minus one appetizer that never came out) and was told that the computer either kicked out the kids meal or it was not put in. About 10 mins later the kids meal came out. Our food came out about an hour after it was placed. Was told the other kids meal, that was ordered with the regular meals, either the kitchen didn't make or it was never put in and they were sorry so about 10 mins later the other kids meal arrived. The fries were soggy and tasted like they had been sitting in old oil. The rest of the meals ordered we're decent tasting. I think after waiting for so long and all the mishaps it left a bad "taste" in our mouths and the rest of the experience had been tainted, especially for the amount of money that we spent (over $300 before tips)!! Our waiter, who tried his best, kept saying I'm sorry and it just seemed like excuse after excuse after saying his order pad got wet and saying he didn't place some of the orders in. We had no management come around and say this is what's going on or the kitchen is backed up and I'm sorry. Needless to say, for the all the outstanding experiences and reviews that have been left, we did not have that experience and unfortunately will...
Read moreWe were very enthusiastic to eat here as we enjoy authentic English food. It has been a while, but I lived in the UK for years, so I look forward to these experiences. Shepherds pie, bangers and mash in a hole, fish butty and Scotch eggs. These are some of our favourites. Unfortunately, we had an indoor table that was unclean, very sticky and asked for something to clean up. It is seat yourself, so that can happen, but it was quite slow. The Shepherds pie was more than bland. Salt from the caddy did nothing to help and the portion was exceptionally small for the cost. The order of a Scotch egg, one Scotch egg was $10 and almost no sausage covering half of the egg. The mustard for the egg was delicious. The bangers and mash were also quite bland, the sausages being quite good, but again, zero seasoning in the potatoes, not well mashed at all. The yorkshire pudding was presentable, but was also bland, as if there was no meat drippings in the pan at all. The fish butty is on a ciabatta roll??? The fish was flakey and the tartar was decent, but shoestring fries? Steak fries are more authentic as they capture more of the malt vinegar and salt. They were also supposed to be seasoned with rosemary, but as we know from the above....no rosemary at all, zero seasoning. Our server was ill prepared as he stated to us upon arrival. He had forgotten our Scotch eggs appetizer...apologies Scotch egg. So our app came out half way though our meals. The beers were $12 each, this was a shock as this atmosphere does not read as either pretentious, nor upscale as there was a dusgusting amount of flies. I do not...
Read moreThis has been our first time back since they moved to the new location. I'm a little bit iffy on whether or not I would go back. The food was pretty good but the service was just not what you would expect. We happen to go on a Sunday for an early lunch. It was probably only about 11:30 and nobody was there. After standing around for several minutes then you end up seating yourself. We sat out side. Nobody stopped by for a while and we noticed that the sign on the table said if nobody waits on you to come to the bar inside to place your order. That's not really what I would call table service. Of course we didn't have menus so I had to get up and go grab some menus from the outside self-serve hostess desk. At that time somebody did come up to take our order. I would say our server was slightly less than welcoming and enthusiastic and when asked about how good a particular item was, she indicated that it didn't matter if it was good or not because she wouldn't have been able to tell us because management would fire her which didn't bode well for us thinking the item might be good or not. It turned out to be decent though. It seemed she was complaining about her employers when she could have answered in a nicer manner. I myself got an eye roll when i didn't want all the items on my burger. That didn't make me feel valued. Then lunch was served but no utensils so i got up to the stand and got my own. Also she forgot the refill on the ice tea and we had to request it again. To top it all off, it was my husband's birthday. What a let down. The positive aspect was foid was...
