Hole-in-a-wall taco truck, set in a desolate location that’s worth every moment and your taste buds will be very thankful! I’m always intrigued by a family owned foodie spot. Chiapas hit the spot!
As for your hosts - Marlene and Karina… amazing young ladies with great attitudes, smiles, hospitality and promptness. I’m not from the area. I’m here visiting my mother and took her to the Orthopedic office down the road; had time to waste and figured I’d take a drive in the area. First place I spotted leaving the office was Chiapas, this quaint little red colored food truck in the corner of a parking lot. I was intent on stopping there on my way back. I’m an avid foodie, always looking for something new and different.
Taco trucks are common in society however, while Chiapas didn’t have a glorified look (large appearance, colors and logos) that seemed so inviting, I am extremely glad that I stopped over. As a starter, I tried the pork and chicken tacos and although they were small, they were fresh, delicious, and filling that hit the spot. There are other menu items that I’ll certainly try next time. The prices are cheap increasing the temptation to order more than you can eat. Little wait time to order [when busy] but food comes out quickly. Only downfall are the hours of operation (11-3pm Tues - Friday) which makes coming here for lunch the only option but worth it. Remember to call the Google established number if ordering ahead, not the Facebook number.
Chiapas is the epitome of quality! Definitely coming back and highly...
Read moreI came here today after wanting to try Tacos Chiapas for YEARS! It's just that every time I drive by the truck, they've already sold out of food for the day, or it was on a day that they were closed. Well while on my way to downtown Mount Dora, I see Tacos Chiapas is open! I went and got some cash, and went to place my order. I ordered 3 pork tacos, a burrito, and chicken fluatas. The woman taking my order was very nice and helpful, and answered the few questions I had without making me feel rushed in anyway, which I appreciate. While waiting on the food to be cooked, many people showed up to order. They just kept coming! I said this is why they're sold out so fast every day, they do a big business so the food has to be good! I checked out the other items available while waiting as well, and decide I'll get the birria tacos next. Their atmosphere is very cute with plants, trees, flowers, lights, etc. which was nice. There is also a decent amount of room to park. Picnic tables to sit at, sauce on the table, and the area is kept clean. I get my food, and it is beautiful. It looks amazing. I do think that the food could have a little more flavor, it just seemed to be missing something and was kind of bland. Maybe it was just an off day, or I'd like something else there better. I'll come back and try some more things, and update my review if that's the case. For now I'll give 3 stars because I did like the owners, area is...
