My kids and I came here for dinner. We sat down and our server came over pretty quick. We placed our orders, including 2 barrel bites and my kids left to shop at the store. 10 minutes go by, my kids come to check if the appetizers came. They haven't. Another 10 minutes go by. No appetizers. Another 10 minutes. 15 minutes, ALMOST A HOUR of waiting for our appetizers. And our server comes out with our dinners, they weren't with the correct sides. (Waited 20 minutes for the correct sides.) And no appetizers. She said they forgot to make them? But they were on the way. 25 minutes later they finally arrived. The loaded hashbrown tots were cold, the cheese unmelted and no green onions. The cheese curds were warm. The manager Misty does absolutely nothing about customer service. She just puts the blame on the servers. And repeatedly said she she doesn't know what goes on in the restaurant. If the manager isn't paying attention to the employees and guests, then who is? And why even have a manager? We also placed a to go order and ended up taking most of our food home since we still had a hour drive and the food was cold. We sat and waited for the carryout. A different server gave us our bill. Still no carry out. Finally we see our server and she goes oh your order should be at the front. Like I said my kids had done shopping so we had a few items to buy also. We go to the checkout I tell the girl we have a carryout. She goes to where the carry outs are and says yes it's right here. Another employee noticed my daughter holding 3 to go boxes and asked if she wanted a bag. We said yes. During that time the cashier continued to check us out and bag our items. In the middle of my daughter's check out the phone rings. The cashier goes on to have a 5 minute conversation with the phone caller. While we were in the middle of checking out and there is at least 3-4 other families waiting to check out. I said out loud bc the "manager" was standing there doing nothing., that I can't believe ac corporate restaurant could be ran so badly. She told the cashier to put the caller on hold. But she never once spoke to any of the guests. We drive the almost hour home and realize the cashier never gave us our carryout order. So I called the restaurant to let them know. The cashier said yes I have your order. I forgot to give it to you. Do you want to talk to the manager? I said yes. The manager told me there was nothing she could do because she wasn't the cashier and repeated the phrase she doesn't know what goes on in the restaurant. I told her we live far away and would like to be refunded for the missing food. She said she can't do that and offered for me drive almost a hour one way to get a certificate for a free meal. I mean seriously. That is considered customer service? And like I will ever eat a cracker barrel after this? This place used to have the best food and service and was great because you could shop. It was fun to go to while traveling because as a corporate restaurants, You would think you could count on good food, an image to uphold and you can expect a certain level of quality. But boy was i wrong. Do not go to cracker barrel and if you do go, do not...
Read moreWe went tonight at 6. We were seated immediately, as the restaurant was NOT busy. On my servers recommendation I tried the new hash brown sheppards pie. The first one they brought out barely had any hashbrowns on it. They are supposed to cover the entire top. It was also supposed to have sourcream, tomatoes and green onions on top, but only had the sour cream. So, they made me another one. By the time it came my daughter had been done with her meal for 15 minutes already. It looked better, and had all the toppings it was supposed to have. But then I took my first bite and the carrots weren't cooked all the way through and were still cold on the inside. This was supposed to be the pot roast and veggies under the hashbrowns, and I don't know about you but my carrots are always cooked and fork tender when I cook roast beef at home. So I asked to speak with the manager. The manager came and I told her how disappointed I was and that I should have just ordered chicken and dumplings like I usually order. She I could get that, took the plate and sent my server to find out what sides I wanted with it. I ordered the greenbeans and mashed potatoes with gravy. I told the server at this point I'd just take it to go. We were brought our check and told the chicken and dumplings would be waiting up front when we checked out. They had neglected to take off the hashbrown sheppards pie but remembered to charge me for the chicken and dumplings. Now it's 7:10. After about 30 minutes another fedup customer informed me that they are out of mashed potatoes and gravy, so I go to the checkout and asked if this is true and they say yes, so I changed one of my sides to the apples. At 5 minutes to 8 I'm informed that they are out of chicken and dumplings and have been out for at least an hour. I was livid! I have never left a restaurant still starving before! A different manager came out and refunded the chicken and dumplings, then proceeded to make excuses, the server is new, it's been a busy day, blah, blah, blah... I said I felt after such a horrible experience that a full refund was warranted. It was a manager that took my order for chicken and dumplings after they were sold out! Shouldn't a manager know they are out of menu items? I spent 2 hours in there without a meal! Stay away from Cracker Barrel if you want to eat. Worst dining...
Read moreWe came here black Friday for my grandma's 86th birthday. There was 15 of us. We called ahead to let them know we would be meeting for brunch that day at that time although they don't take reservations.
Some of us sat without refills for 10 to 15 minutes at a time. This was also a problem later with syrups. Our food order was incorrect in multiple ways. Our server and the woman with her were so angry about another worker who was running food, that while we got served our food all we heard was complaining and even foul language about this other worker. This made it very awkward for our family. The anger of our server made some of us take food that was incorrect without saying anything because we would have had to interrupt her already angry conversation with the other woman. A tray was dropped in all the fussing and complaining from the workers and food had to be remade, which was remade quickly though. The bacon tasted like nothing. We had been talking about it at our end of the table when some family members said from the other end "did you taste the bacon? It taste like nothing." It was weird and made me even worried to eat it being pregnant. The line to pay was extremely long and into the restaurant. It was being cut by people who had been shopping in the store and the cashier's were just watching it & allowing it to happen and if it wasn't my grandma's birthday I would have told them were the back of the line was but I couldn't do it politely so I didn't.
It just seemed extremely disorganized with undertrained staff and par to subpar food. There needs to be a better system implemented for running and calling food, accepting, preparing for and serving larger parties and taking next in line for checking out on busy days. All in all, I would say go elsewhere. Honestly it just wasn't a great experience for my grandma on her...
