I was quite excited to enjoy this restaurant with my family on a trip to the Mt. Pleasant/Charleston area. Unfortunately, our dining experience was not one to positively remember. The waiter was nice but the service of the restaurant overall was extremely slow (waiting lengthy amounts of time to just place orders etc.); the appetizers took a very long time to come out and none of them were hot (soup and calamari) or appearing as many of the dishes did online, and with other tables having arrived and ordered after us receiving their food before ours; and the kicker being after waiting over an hour for our food, us “then” being advised that they were out of salmon. I was floored - as typically when something is unavailable, this is advised shortly after placing the order (before hand in the best case) so you can then order something different. After waiting ALLLL that time to only then find out my husband’s dish wasn’t available, I was at my end point. We had children with us who were all asking where the food was the whole time and we had all enjoyed activities all day and were hungry. The MAJOR insult to injury is that when we were advised about the salmon and I clearly was unhappy and asked for my check immediately, NO manager or anyone came out to speak to me and ask what they could do to make our experience better or offer any discount on the check. The nice waiter apologized, I paid the full price and then had to leave with my 3 children and go down the street and order food. This was honestly one of my worst experiences and I was hoping it would be one of the best. This was a highly disappointing and unnerving experience...
Read morePrior to tonight we have not been into Topsail in about 6 months and we have always enjoyed it. We made a reservation because they had always been super busy before. We arrived a little early but were seated immediately by a very nice hostess. They were not busy at all. We waited for a while and the hostess returned and poured us water and said that our waitress would be over soon. After waiting a bit longer the waitress came over and said that she had just been given another table. You could tell that despite the restaurant not being busy she was spread a little thin. We started with a small Caesar salad that was big enough for us to share sadly it was very bland. Upon the salad being delivered and taking our entree orders the waitress said she was going to bring hush puppies. The hush puppies never arrived, which was fine because we really didn’t need them but….. My wife ordered the salmon and subbed the garlic mashed potatoes for the rice. When her entree arrived the mashed potatoes were cold and they were not lying when they call them garlic because it was overwhelming and I like garlic. The salmon was cooked appropriately but was also overwhelmingly garlicky. I ordered the lobster grits. When it arrived it was a very pretty dish and I enjoyed it but it wasn’t anything special. Midway through the meal the waitress asked if wanted a refill of my tea and said yes please. Meanwhile my wife’s glass was empty but the waitress did not offer to refill hers. The check was $96 which we clearly expected but in hindsight I don’t believe it was worth what we paid. I’m not sure that we...
Read moreWhen we arrived at the location after making a 6pm reservation we found the parking in back to be small under 20 spaces, but we found a spot right away. When entering the establishment it had good signage leading us to the front door. We were greeted at the door and immediately seated. There were about 20 people inside which gave a slight pause wondering if this place was a dive or not, they were not busy at the time. We were immediately attended to by Maddie who was very personable and attentive. She provided great details for the nights menu specials. She was very warm and even asked what we had in mind for what we wanted. She offered up her favorites as well as making suggestions for us. We finally ordered the starter lobster, a glass of wine and our main courses which was lobster and grits and the seafood platter. Every item brought out came quickly and was plated elegantly. The lobster and grits were very meaty, sweet and savory with an amazing bacon flavor swimming in a rich creamy sauce. The seafood platter with lobster tail, shrimp and grits and scallops were perfect and tasted amazing. We also tried the she-crab soup, which was our third restaurant trying this dish and it was hands down the best, very well done. We were very impressed with every aspect of this amazing dining experience that you would not want to miss out on while visiting Charleston. If we could give it 10...
