The Gluten Free Oven — Restaurant in Mount Pleasant

I ordered a birthday cake last week for my birthday. I was very surprised on the reasonable price compared to other gf bakerys. The saying if it's to good to be true then it probably isn't worth your time, in my case my taste buds it held true. The presentation of the cake itself appeared very amateur, choppy icing work and uneven border. I figured i could get past the appearance if it tasted good. A second disappointment. The cake itself was very dense and heavy. The icing was supposed to be buttercream but was heavy as well. The icing tasted like the canned icing betty Crocker makes. I would have been better off making my own cake. I took one bite and didnt touch the rest. My guests felt the same and thought it was terrible. I threw it away. Next time i will make the trip to gluuteny in squirrel hill like i should have done in the first place....

In the shop I spoke to Marie, one of owners. Very knowledgeable about celiac & gluten sensitivities. Marie was very friendly person but also very caring about her customers needs. I didn't realize I should put an order in prior to going to the shop but Marie had some breads, cookies, pizza dough and a few other things in the freezer I could purchase. I snagged the last bag of cheese ravioli! Can't wait to try them! It's been over 3 years since I've had ravioli. I will definitely be back but will make sure to put in an order first. This place is horrible. They have a menu with dairy free options listed, however, we tried to order a few things dairy free for my birthday and they refused to make anything. Then we finally got them to allow us to order dairy free pepperoni rolls and then we showed up in the morning to pick them up, as they told us they'd be ready in the morning. By the time we drove an hour to get there, we were told they didn't even start on them yet and they "weren't making them at all if we didn't want to come back in a few hours". I do NOT recommend ever...
