Chef Huang is different from your typical Chinese restaurant. Upon our entrance, we thought we would sit down and have a server, since it appeared to be like that type of restaurant. It wasnât. It is all self service. You order then wait at your table for your order. Our food was in a to go bag and packaging and we were given two styrofoam plates, plastic dinnerware, and napkins. Our drinks were in cans. This was our first time at a Chinese restaurant here and it felt odd eating this way in a booth under a giant crystal chandelier. My husband paid for the bill after they gave us the bag of food to eat at the table. He gave them a 20% tip ($6) without even tasting the food. I prefer to tip after trying the food in a restaurant or a $1 or $2 if we are just ordering takeout at a place. We both decided afterwards that the food was so superlative that the tip was fair.
The Crab Rangoon impressed me the most. Usually I expect it to taste like the typical takeout Crab Rangoon. The appetizers were the hugest I ever seen and immensely succulent with a light crispy shell. Cooked to perfection and the best I ever tasted.
The General Tso Chicken was the cooked perfectly and lacked that gummy crust texture I usually notice on past takeout experiences of General Tso Chicken. One of the finest cooked versions I had of it in a long time.
My husband loved his shrimp fried rice. He said it was reminiscent of the Asian fried ginger peanut rice with chicken that I would cook him. We both decided this would be our go to place for Chinese food and holiday meal takeouts. We usually eat Chinese buffet for Christmas or Thanksgiving due to work and distance from family for many years.
There were a lot of menu items I wanted to try that I never see in a Chinese food menu like the fish soup. Definitely will come to this place to try every unique item especially the seafood. The customer service and the staff were the kindest and nicest we have experienced since we...
Read moreTonight I ordered as I often due every other week. I order at least 50 dollars each time I order sometimes more. Tonight my son wanted to try something different a little spicy. So he ordered firecracker shrimp you would think it would be spicy but it wasnât. It had carrot and ginger slices in it which the menu doesnât say. When my son tried it he said it wasnât spicy but it had an odd taste to it. When I tasted it I could taste ginger so I called and the first employee said yes it does have ginger. I suggested with a heavy spice as ginger that should be on the menu. He said I could bring it back but I said I live down in Woodbridge and that when my son wants Chinese food we go there because itâs his favorite out of my way yes but had always been worth it but tonight I received the worst customer service Iâd ever received from mr huang himself. The man that was always so nice and another reason I would always go to him and no one else. The employee said let me get him for u. I explained all to Mr huang and he told me I should have asked what was in it. No refund no nothing. I said I spend lots of money here and donât usually complain but 14 dollars is a lot and I would like to just get something different next time. He told me he didnât care what I had to say and that I could say or do whatever u wanted. So upset never thought I would hear that from him sinner he is so nice. I just thought I would share very upset and I have represented him throughout COVID! Such a shame to loose my business and others I will reach out to that told me of how good he was. I work in retail and when my customers are unhappy I do everything to make them happy because without them we have...
Read moreI was not expecting this place to be as good as it is but believe the hype. It is good! My only complaint is that the menu is way too large. They really need to consolidate their menu and simplify it. The second thing I would say is that they need to update their website. It's not easy to order online and the website is not secure. We wanted to order online but our computers were giving us so many red flags that we just ended up calling in the order. My wife and I order Beef & broccoli, Chicken & broccoli, and Won Ton soup. Even though what we ordered is pretty basic, the flavor was a step above the regular Chinese restaurant. The beef was tender and the broth was not greasy or heavy. As for my wife's chicken and broccoli she said that the chicken was tender, even the second day the chicken was great. She also loves the soup and says that it's the right amount of broth and noodle. I plan on ordering duck next time and maybe the General Tso's...
