Come for the food but get it to go. I have been there twice and dined in both times. BIG MISTAKE!!! First time I went the manager(?) was very outgoing. Constantly asking my daughter and me various questions like what band we would like to see in concert or what was our favorite TV or movie character. I think he was trying to create a fun inclusive atmosphere. It was overbearing but I get that he was trying to create a “fun” atmosphere. Annoying but barely tolerable. The second visit was much worse. Not as sure if it was the same guy but he totally ruined my meal. Now I admit when you go into a place like this the place definitely has a liberal slant to it. I was wearing a t-shirt with an anti-socialist message. The entire time my daughter and I sat there trying to eat our meal we were subjected to a lecture as to why my shirt was all wrong. I don’t mind a political debate but the manager(?) wasn’t interested in debating. Anytime I tried to express my opinion he would interrupt and continue with a diatribe about how much Trump and Republicans suck and how great socialism is. I quickly realized there was no point in trying to talk to this guy and just tried to eat my sandwich in peace. This was an impossible task. I understand being passionate about your political views. However when you are on the clock your job is to make the customer feel welcomed. I work in retail as a manager. If I berated a customer like that or saw one of my employees act like him there would be some write ups being preformed. So some advice to this guy. If you don’t like someone’s political view, keep it to yourself. It’s not about you, you’re job is to serve the customer. I never write reviews on Yelp or Google, but this incident was so unpleasant. I was in the area and decided to grab a quick lunch at Dave’s. I went a couple minutes after they opened at 11am. I got confused about the menu (this was my second visit) and asked Paul a question to which he responded, “Can you read?” in a serious tone. I said, “Yes.” And he said, “Then read the menu.” I had gotten the Big Dave and the Super Dave confused–sorry!! He then proceeded to tell me how he likes to mess with people. However, the way he asked the question was not just messing with you. It was plain rude. Him “messing with me” is just an excuse for his rude question. Seems like most everyone else has had good experiences with Paul, but I guess he woke up on the wrong side of the bed given the mood he was in. Then, he handed me my sandwich, and before letting me leave, asked me his daily question, which was, “What was your favorite high school class?” I hesitated for a few seconds to think back to high school, and he was like, “Come on, I know you’re smart.” There was no one else in the sandwich shop; give me some time to think! Plus, now he thinks I’m smart? He genuinely questioned my ability to read a couple of minutes ago. The only redeeming quality was that Marissa made a great sandwich, but it was not good enough to come back and have to deal with Paul again.
