I went several times when it was out on Coshocton Rd and I always ordered the sopapillas and they were good. We decided recently to go downtown on All you can eat taco night and take our grandson, that by the way can way his share of tacos. It was horrible!! The taco meat had no seasoning at all and the meat looked more like sausage. Our was actually almost whitish in color. Our didn't tastes like pork but it surely didn't taste like hamburger. They we're absolutely horrible. It isn't hard to make tacos and it ended hip being way to over priced because they we're so bad that not one of us including our grandson for more than the two that was served to us on the plate. It was not busy that day at all and out took forever to even get served. I assume but do not know, that it may not be owned by the same people when our was out on the east end of town? All I was thinking about while we were there was how outdated it still was for moving down town and still looked like it was the Ohio Restaurant and how sad that local employees have not much to pick from to eat lunch down here and how I would pack a lunch before I ever go back. Guarantee we won't and our grandson won't either. Thank goodness for Alcove and the new sub place and some other places that have opened up. I'm sure it won't be long and this place will not be able to compete. I actually don't know how it's stayed open all this time. It was the first time ordering something other than the sopapilla and it's was simply tacos. I won't even try the sopapilla now. It's a shame to not have pride in ownership and that's how I see it. Taco are inexpensive, but to not care enough for it to be even appealing to the customer and serve way bland food at that!!!??? I know, I've heard that authentic Mexican food is bland but there's a difference between good bland Mexican food and cheap quality that speaks don't care what we serve to our customers!!! Pay a little more and go to Fiesta Mexicana, either place is with it. This place Should...
Read moreI've lived in Mount Vernon for almost 20 years and somehow had never been to La Paloma until today. When I want Mexican, I go to Fiesta Mexicana, and I don't think that's going to change. I have nothing outright bad to say about the place. Good customer service. Decor is nothing special. Neither is the food. The menu is pretty limited for what I'm used to at a typical Mexican restaurant. I'm not Mexican so have no right to comment about authenticity, but that said, it doesn't feel like authentic Mexican food to me. Pretty sure the chicken in my burrito came from a can. Don't get me wrong, I ate the whole thing (for two meals, actually...TON of food), but it was just okay. Kind of bland, although some people like that kind of thing. I'd call this "entry level Mexican food." It's good, but if you're passionate about Mexican cuisine, you can find better than good just...
Read moreI first want to say that the staff was amazing and very kind and helpful. They were very good and quick with service, and that was amazing. They were very helpful when my partner needed his food remade as well. So definitely, great service. The restaurant was very clean and bright. It was a nice atmosphere. I didn't care for the food. I found most of the food to be very bland. I ordered a chicken burrito, and the chicken wasn't seasoned at all. Everything was very bland. Personally, I didn't like it, but I could see why other people would it just isn't my taste at all. The chips and salsa were good, but everything else...
