My first thought when I saw this inn on google Maps was that it was too expensive, but after my 1 night stay, I am glad to say it's worth every penny and actually very reasonable. I when I got their the first thing I saw after walking in from the parking lot was the beautiful garden the first door I walked up to looked like the dining room so I walked around and ended up walking up to what I believe to be the kitchen or a staff only erya and the attendant came out and led me back to the door I first walked up to and through their was the front desk she helped check me in and since I have a plug in hybrid I asked if I cloud charge my car and she said she wasn't sure if their was a plug but if I could find 1 I was more than welcome to do so I had apperrantly parked near the only outside outlet at the lot. She told me they served beer and wine till 9pm and breakfast was served till 9am and led me to my room which was spotless everything worked the ac was quite but effective the tv remote took me a moment to figure out the bathroom was clean and well stocked. There were extra blankets and pillows as well as an ironing set in the closet, and the kitchenette had tea and coffee available. After I got settled, I went and asked her what I should check out within walking distance, and she suggested a few locations to go. Later on that night, I went and asked when they served alcohol since I had forgotten, and she told me the time and gotten me a beer , and at the moment, all they had available was a lager. Im not a big fan of beer, but it was decent. In the morning I went in around 8:30 and asked if they were still serving breakfast because I had forgotten the time and thought I may have missed it and I had the omelet with everything but american cheese and bacon with a english muffin and strawberry jam as well as a yogurt and blueberry muffin with a coffee hot chocolate and orange juice and it all was amazing. When I checked out , I asked if I could take a glass from my room as a souvenir, and they said I could. Overall, my experience was amazing. The only things I think could have been better was some more channels on the tv or maybe a printed list of channels as well as the times they start and stop serving breakfast and alcohol on the door because if your like me you may forget and not want to bother the staff about it. Any negative reviews on the page, I believe, are because of a misunderstanding by the guest. The road next to the inn was quite loud, but I couldn't hear it in my room or the...
Read moreThe property is in the shape of a U. The main house consists of the dining area, checkin area, and kitchen downstairs. There are suites upstairs. The rest of the rooms are outside facing a beautiful courtyard. There are covered sitting areas throughout. My family stayed here for two nights. The first night was me and one daughter who was visiting Kenyon. We were in Room 24 (East Cottonwood) which actually smelled rather musty until we turned the heat on. The room was very clean, but you could see some patching thoroughout. Since it is an older property, power outlets are not as prevalent so you might want to bring a power strip. The bathroom has a pedestal sink and is too small for a vanity, but in the room there is a long bar with a large mirror where you can do makeup and hair. There is a fridge w/2 complimentary bottles of water and a microwave.
In the main house' dining room, there are cookies in the afternoon as well as coffee, tea, and cocoa. In the evening you can stop by for a glass of wine, beer, or sparkling cider. For breakfast, a cold bar is set up with fruit, pastries, and cereal. A made to order entree is included. I had the french toast which was fantastic. My daughter ordered scrambled eggs which she said were moist and flavorful.
The second night, my DH and other daughter joined us. We moved to the Philander house which is located across from their small, private parking area. That room was very roomy with 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, and a full kitchen. The master bath has a jacuzzi tub and separate shower. While we were at Kenyon, the staff moved our suitcase from the small room to the house which was greatly appreciated. The only complaint I have about the house is the curtains in the master bedroom. One of the windows faces the street and a streetlamp shines into the room. A heavier curtain or thicker blinds would help tremendously.
I do have to add that the inn is right on a busy street so if you are a light sleeper, you might ask for a room furthest from the street. The staff is amazing. The owners live onsite and take pride in their inn. We will...
Read moreWe made an unexpected trip to Mount Vernon and stayed at the inn for the first time. Thankfully, we got the last room available! Upon arriving in the main house, we were greeted by Alex, who checked us in and told us to return for a complimentary glass of wine or beer. She was so sweet and was waiting for us after we took our things to our room. The wine was delicious and there were fresh baked cookies available for snacking. The jazz music playing was delightful and relaxing. It was like being in a movie (according to my wife, Shelby). Our room was spotless and comfortable. We were in room 24 which has 2 double beds (we usually reserve a King but as I said we were blessed to get the last room available). It was great! We slept well and went to the dining room for breakfast. Breakfast was made to order and included, fruits, juice, coffee served on Crate & Barrel dishes. Fresh flowers adorned the tables. This is where we first met Kate, who served our breakfast. She is fabulous, very attentive and thorough. Fast forward to the 2nd morning....I was under the weather and skipped breakfast but Shelby went to the dining room and while eating she mentioned that to Kate. Kate then offered to make me some dry toast to settle my stomach & boxed it up for me. That was so considerate! We will definitely be staying here again, as it appears we will be returning sooner rather than later. Huge thanks to Kate & Alex!!! They are fantastic...
