This past Saturday, at noon, Jan 6,2024, my husband (89 yrs old recovering frm recent stroke) & myself - both of us disabled seniors, decided to have lunch at Hometown Pizza in Mt Washington. Ordered a medium hometown pizza. I asked to replace grn peppers w banana peppers/was told would cost more tough I was replacing one w the other. I said ok. I told her hand tossed crust. They only have thin n crispy, or thick crust. I said make it thick. Everything was fine. B4 pizza came, we recd plate w our sauce. I had to request silverware. Pizza came - no plates .o eat it on. I went to the counter got 2 plates. No problem. As I sat then on tabke noticed BOTH had food residue on them. I took back to the counter. Our waitress said would bring 2 more, .no problem.I said fine & went back to our table. Whn she brought plates, I asked IS this pizza thin & crispy or thick crust, looks like thin & crispy. We prefer thick crust. She said. OK, I will be right back. , No BIG problem. I figured she had gone to place correct order. So far, the mixups were nothing to be upset over UNTIL!!!........... Our waitress ws talking to a woman & they were looking back at our table. I thought, she is explaining our order was wrong & placing corrected order. NEXT THING I KNOW. MANAGER APPROACHES OUR TABLE WITH AN ATTITUDE ! She said in a VERY nasty tone , " so WHAT seems to be YOUR problem?". I was taken off guard. With our waitress I used NOTHING, but, please, thank you, and I appreciate you bringing us clean plates. I told her, no problem, I was just telling waitress the pizza wasn't what we ordered. Here is the clincher. The manager said crust on the pizza was MY fault - that they only had thin & crispy, & thick crust. I told her I ordered thick. She said it was just a mistake no reason for ME to be nasty. I TRIED to reassure her that I had been NOTHING but polite. But manager didn't want to hear anything I had to say. Then the manager got outraged when I told her maybe the waitress needed a little more training. Told me because the waitress made a mistake gave me NO right to be hateful! She said I will PUT in an order for a thick crust to be made. I said. OK, I thought that had been resolved be4 it became an issue with manager. THATS ALL WE WANTED! She walked off in a huff. I told my husband I was so upset, I loss my appetite. . I said, " I can't BELIEVE the manager came to our table & got in my face." It was uncalled for & embarrassing around other customers. I had NOT been nasty,. All we wanted was a correct pizza, which I thought had alrdy been done with no extenuating circumstances until the manager became involved and blew everything out of the water
The manager heard my comment to my husband. She turned returned to our table to engage in more negative conversation. My husband finally said, you know, we came in for a nice lunch. I am ready to leave. I think we have endured enough. Then I told the manager, "Look, I came here today to enjoy a nice lunch with my husband who is recovering from a recent stroke. I didnt come here to argue with you & to be accused of something that DIDNT happen. With that being said, my husband and I will be leaving." K The manager said, "Well, I TOLD you I would put in a corrected order."
I told her, "it's not worth it anymore. YOU have ruined our lunch, and frankly, I am no longer hungry. Thank you SO much for your hospitality."
Her comment was, "well you won't be charged for the PIZZA (which we hadnt touched) - or the 2 pepsis."
We left. Our pepsi's still sitting on the table, and a pizza we didn't want that had been boxed up "for our...
Read moreI hate to have to write this review, but my last experience at Hometown Pizza was so disappointing. Me and my family are long time Hometown customers and love it every time we go. We typically go to the location in Bloomfield to dine in. On this particular day we were coming through Mt. Washington and dined in there. Start to finish we had an unpleasant experience. We came in and all the employees were standing around in a circle talking to each other behind the counter. Several of them looked up at us and then dispersed. Finally another employee came around the counter and said, "can I help you?!". We asked if we could please have a table. He left and came back about 2 minutes later. Another customer said to us that they typically are very slow at this location. We were finally seated after waiting a long time. We waited several more minutes for our server to come up to us to take drink orders. We waited a few more minutes to get the drinks. All we ordered was just a coke and a water. We then placed our food order. We ordered a medium pizza to share and a house salad for me. I asked if the salad could be brought out before the pizza. Instead I got my salad maybe 5 minutes before the pizza. I waited to get it for about 20 minutes. There was only one other party in the restaurant and there was no sign of our server. So the pizza came and we had to track down our server to get plates. Then we had to track her down a little while later to get refills on drinks. She never stopped to check in nearly the whole time. On top of that the food didn't really seem all that fresh and tasty like it normally does. I believe she did ask if we needed a box to take food home though. We finished and went up to the counter to pay and once again some staff members just looked at us before assisting. Overall, we were really shocked! We always have a great experience where the food is delicious and the service is always fantastic. The staff is usually so friendly and sweet. You feel like you're w/ family, but this time fell...
Read moreOver the past 5 years, we've spent thousands of dollars at this location and after today, we will never return. We've never been so insulted and treated so poorly in a restaurant in our lives. The service has been steadily declining the past few months, but today when I refused to allow the manager to continue raising her voice and disrepecting us and started to leave with my mother, the manager told us she'd just call the police.....🤔 We turn around to walk out the door and you're going to call the police?! This woman is the most unprofessional "manager" I've ever met! We were turned away because we had a party of 6 and they only had one server, but the party of 7 right behind us was allowed to just seat themselves at the table we asked for and not told they couldn't sit there either. We did the right thing waiting to be seated and we were turned away, but the people who just walk in and so rudely seat themselves are served?! Anyone would be upset about that, but seeing how classless and unapproachable the manager is, don't even try to get a resolution!! My son has the last exchange with the manager on video, where I asked her if she understood what happened and should we just start seating ourselves when we come in and she prpceeded to lecture us and slam her hands on the counter, so there's no denying how incredibly awful and unprofessionally she behaved. It should be noted that she was one of at least 3 employees in the back that refused to help the poor boy solely waiting all of the tables. It doesn't take that many people to cook the food, especially when you're turning away customers and less than half of the restaurant is occupied. We will never, EVER spend another single dollar in this location. We went to the fern creek location immediately after this terrible experience and it was perfect! The server and manager could not have been nicer and our food was delicious. We will just go there...
