Tonight was my first time at Little B's. I don't know where to start! When me and my group of four entered the restaurant it was a little off putting at first cause it was kinda smokey in the kitchen, but the smells coming from that kitchen were fantastic. We were seated pretty quickly and our waiter was quick to get our drinks. We had the Nachos Especial and I think they may have lasted all of 10 mins due to my table devouring them! The queso was fantastic, the beef cooked medium beautifully, the shrimp cooked but not over cooked, the chicken juicy, and the jalapenos were very flavorful. Then out of nowhere our waiter brought us a free appetizer??? He said we were the lucky winners of the night and we had the jalapeno honey glazed chips with goat cheese stuffed avocado. Sounded weird not gonna lie, but I'll try anything once. Y'all. It was soooooo good. I don't even know why it worked but it worked! Lasted maybe 5 mins with my group. Maybe. That was so tasty. Keep in mind these portions were on those big green plates you know the ones you get at Mexican restaurants where they are testing the size of your stomach.... still gone so fast. Then before we knew it the entrees were there. I got the pollo camerones or something like that, and the amount of cheese boarded insane but I was super down for that, the chicken was a juicy breast with 4 beautiful shrimps with sour cream, pico de Gallo, a flavorful white rice which was unexpected but nice since I'm not a Mexican rice fan, and tortillas. Now to no fault of the restaurant I was not a fan of the flour tortillas. I am spoiled to my husband making me fresh ones for breakfast the way I like them, so I wasn't a fan of these however I'm pregnant and I know I'm picky totally not their fault. The rest 10/10. My husband and his friend got the chimiguna one beef one chicken. Again cheese boarded insane but they loved it! The fancy beans (not refried the other ones haha) were delicious as well. I had never heard of them before but wow! Our other friend had the shrimp quesadillas and in respect to the rest of the dishes....CHEESE haha our group loves cheese. It was fabulous. Well cooked shrimp, beautiful portion, just OMG good. No way we could finish all this food so three boxes later, our on top of it waiter was telling us about the carrot cake. Like man dessert sounds good but I don't know. First off keep that boy! He can upsell like a used car seller. Secondly, with his recommendation we got two carrot cakes one for each couple. Y'all... the softest most well balanced spiced carrot cake I've had in such a long time. Sweet without being just sugar, light and fluffy icing, three layer to break up the cake. I am so glad that young man told us about this carrot cake. Best way to end my night!!
Now to the part some care about the most. Price. Four adults, four full entrees, all sodas, one appetizer, and two slices of cake. 113.01. Roughly 28.25 per person. All but one of us had enough food to take home for seconds. While on the higher end of cheap, 10/10 would never complain about this price for the amount versus quality. I had eaten out at a different place only 2 people way less food and terrible quality and spent 100. So in my book they are cheap. You do not get free chips and salsa here, but honestly we didn't miss out on a thing with that. This felt more snazzy than a hole in the wall Mexican place, which while those places are also tasty, this is just different. If you are looking for that cheap small Mexican type restaurant you won't find that here, but if you are in a place to open the wallet just a tad higher and try a different type of place Little B's...
Read moreI'm gonna take the time to actually make an in depth review here. TLDR, worth the visit, good value lunch. Largely Tex Mex menu. Need to push drink specials to get that liquor flowing. Margaritas, Tequila and mexican beer would go well with the menu.
I would definitely suggest this restaurant to anyone looking for a tex mex lunch. VERY good value on the lunch menu. Good food. Fresh. Had steak fajita lunch size ($13) and the Cuban sandwich(about the same cost) I can't pronounce the name of the sandwich but it was good. Both served in a timely manner. Place was clean, staff was friendly and on time, atmosphere is good. We had lunch for 3 for $45 plus tip and they do serve the lunch menu all day. (11am-9pm 7 days)
Not sure people are going to pay near the market rate for top cuts of meat and seafood here in MH. Hard to say. Some may, and wouldn't think twice about it, but many folks here don't want to even consider a $$$ menu item.
It's definitely a restaurant and not a diner, so the prices aren't over the top, but Mountain Home isn't a rich area and we have a few restaurants already getting those customers in. We have so many places that come and go, I would hate to see them close up shop a year from now because it seems like a really nice restaurant for the cost, and they do have many items that are very reasonable. I don't want to imply their whole menu is a big expense because it's actually not. Premium cuts of steak (ribeye) and seafood is probably a little below market rate.
Hard to tell if this place is going to survive here or not. They have bar with liquor but nobody pushing drink sales or running any drink specials, and anyone in the restaurant business knows that the bar is key to surviving long term. Also the bar is front and center as soon as you walk in, and there's no real separation from the rest of the main dining room. Also their menu is largely tex-mex, but you wouldn't know it from the outside. There's no indication of that. Maybe a sign would help. Cadillac Jack's is right up the street, and you can't miss their signage. Folks could drive right past this gem and not know it.
They are investing in our community and helping with the tornado relief, so I do appreciate their outlook and effort on that front. Seem like good folks and I hope they make it here.
(Only thing I would recommend people keep an eye out for is buying fajitas for two at any restaraunt. Not saying this place does that, but many restaurants offer that dish "Fajitas for 2" for double the cost, and it's 1.5x the food. Best to just make two seperate single orders if its exactly double the cost in my experience. Oh, and for my own personal sake, please make black beans available for the fajitas. I'm not a fan of refied beans or bean soup on my steak or...
Read moreWell my husband and I went here for lunch today because I wanted Carne Guisada... And this appears to be the only restaurant between Florida and Texas that has This dish... I took mine to go because they refused to even chop up a hamburger for a beef taco for my husband... He has no teeth he cannot eat the fajita meat. He doesn't care for the chicken because it's chewy with no teeth and of course...We don't go there for fish we go there for Mexican food... So I asked to see the manager so that I could make a simple request and right away before even got it out of my mouth. He started defending himself with a bit of a Snotty tone. First of all I stood up and I was standing at the end of my table waiting for the manager because my husband had already gone to the truck and I. Wanted to. Talk to the? Manager. I wanted to make a suggestion which was not at all accepted or acceptable to him. He was sitting at the bar making me stand there waiting to talk to him. He had no interest in it being in any hurry at all. Write off the bat his comment started off with "Well Ma'am" we can't please everyone". So as you couldn't maybe imagine I asked him... Could you chop up a hamburger Patty for a beef taco for my husband and he vigorously shook his head No... And said No. So I had them package my Carne Guisada to go... I took my husband to Rubens who is always treated us with sweetness and has really good food by the way... I decided to wait to get home to open up my Carne Guisada and I opened it up to the pictures. I'm fixing to show you below...The rice looked good but not Mexican rice. The beans look good and Then my very small bowl of Grease That was supposed to be my Carne Guisada...looked like a grease bowl and tasted line cumin and grease and was such a chinsy serving... for $14.95... Would have been laughable had you been there... This is definitely not in Mexican food restaurant. If you want to Mexican to restaurant go to Rubens on 5... They have the best all around food... This is a yuppy want to be Mexican food restaurant... Good luck with your attitude. Mr manager all I wanted to do was ask an innocent question, make a Suggestion and you took it all out of context without even hearing me out. We won't be back....And rock hard...
