The service was beyond slow but other than that, let me list the reasons this place received one star: out of 12 3.5 ounce pours, only three were palatable. Do not get their “wine.” The Riesling was skunked and the Cabernet Franc had bubbles. For those of you who aren’t familiar with wine, Cabernet Franc with bubbles = bacteria in the wine. The meads were either tasteless and bland or pure sugar and thick. The one exception was the Viking Grog, possibly their only decent mead. The ciders were a tad better than the meads but nowhere near as perfected and satisfying as Arsenal Cider, just a stone’s throw away. Finally, and not least of all, they say they sell a “Flight” of 4 selections from their house made menu but what they really mean is that they will put four glasses in a tray for you and you only get a $3-$4 dollar discount (total) from the regular 3.5 oz price. Finally, and admittedly least important, the noise level inside was atrocious at only 5:30-7:00 pm because no care at all has been given to sound absorption/acoustics. Generally, this doesn’t bother me but in the absence of good service and good product, it becomes a bigger issue.
For reference, my husband and I are wine and mead makers (we don’t sell - so this isn’t a competition issue), and we’ve traveled all over the country tasting wines, meads, and ciders. We also regularly purchase, age, and drink wines from across Europe. If only the wine had been a letdown, I’d have chalked it up to “don’t buy wine in a mead place,” but the fact that the wines were not just “tasteless” but actually BAD (in terms of bacteria and fermentation) and the meads were subpar at best, there’s no way I can give this establishment more than one star.
I feel bad for people who will go here and think they are actually...
Read moreLooking for a one-of-a-kind spot to grab drinks, relax, and soak in some serious medieval vibes, KingView Meadhouse & Winery is a must-visit! With locations in Lake Erie, The Tanger Outlets (Washington, PA), and their absolutely adorable meadhouse in Mt. Lebanon, this place has quickly become a must visit! I had the chance to visit the Mt. Lebanon location — the medieval-style mead hall — and was completely blown away! From the decor to the menu, the theme is carried throughout in the best way. Think rustic wood, cozy vibes, and a menu that sounds like it was written by Viking foodies. Drinks: The rotating selection of meads, wines, ciders, and beers (including local PA brews) is impressive. I tried a mead flight — which was perfect as someone still learning about different mead types and flavors. Every sample was unique and delicious! Food: The Nordic Board (charcuterie) was a standout starter — with a great mix of cured meats, cheeses, nuts, fresh and dried fruits. Under “Voyage Companions” (aka shareables), we went with the Dip Trio — buffalo chicken, spinach & artichoke, and the warm “Honey Pot” (marinara, ricotta, honey). All served with pita, veggies, and chips — so satisfying. Flatbreads: We tried two — The Gatherer: mozzarella, tomato, mushroom, spinach, roasted red pepper, and red onion. Hela’s White: garlic chive butter, mozzarella, spinach, prosciutto, and Parmesan. Both were absolutely delicious and perfectly baked! Atmosphere & Events: The meadhouse offers both indoor and outdoor seating, happy hour specials, live music, and trivia nights. It’s cozy, welcoming, and great for a casual date night, hangout with friends, or something new to try in the South Hills area. Highly recommend...
Read moreI had a deeply disappointing experience at Kingsview tent. While attending the Renaissance wine taste in Manheim, I noticed a clear pattern of disrespect and dismissiveness toward people of color, myself included. Staff continued to serve white patrons while repeatedly ignoring or being unkind to others. When I respectfully inquired about the issue, I was told they were no longer serving—yet they continued to serve others around me.
This behavior felt discriminatory and unacceptable, particularly from a staff member with a ginger beard who consistently wears a distinct hat. If you are a person of color or value inclusive service, I urge you to reconsider supporting this establishment.
RACIST.
RESPONSE TO THE OWNER’S REPLY BELOW—
I find it interesting that your tone online is professional and composed, yet in person, your behavior doesn’t match that energy. In fact, you were quick to single out individuals in my group who were interacting APPROPRIATELY, GOOD ATTITUDE and causing NO HARM because your server and us were having a great conversation about your wines. You served the group next to us who also looked extremely intoxicated, but you had no issues with them. I understand the need to maintain a professional front online, but CONSISTENCY matters sir. Next time don’t pick and choose and just shut your tent down early. Thank...
