Scoops on Beverly definitely has a 50's vibe going on, between the music being played, the Norman Rockwell art on the walls, and the old time soda pop they offer. The shop itself (well maintained and clean) is fun to go to and normally smells of fresh home made waffle cones. I frequent the store, and I've found the service to be very efficient, fast, and reliably pleasant, even when there's a decent sized line. Most impressively, I've seen the store staff treat all customers very well, no matter that they are elementary schools kids (of which there are a lot around 12pm on school days), or seniors.
The ice cream offered is usually from Hershey's but not exclusively, and is pretty tasty. They also have shaved Hawaiian Ice in a variety of flavors, sorbet, sugar free ice cream, candy, milkshakes, sundaes, home made waffle cones, specialty cones, cakes (both traditional and ice cream), and a variety of beverages. Just recently the began offering diary products including 1/2 and full gallon milk, whip cream, and the like. They don't have soft serve.
I've noticed the store owner himself busy working the shop during most days, remembering peoples names, what they like to get, smiling, and occasionally chatting them up. He clearly enjoys his job, and for me, that completes the "local scoop shop" feeling that is missing from many of the chain stores I visited...
Read moreFirst let me acknowledge that this one star is not a reflection on the ice cream itself - I didn't get to try it so maybe it's fantastic. The one star is for the young blonde girl working there today. This was my first time at Scoops, and I asked her a question since I was unfamiliar with how the typical flow of ordering works there. It may have seemed like a stupid question to her, but I was just trying to be polite by asking. Rather than just thinking in her head that I'm an idiot and responding with a simple yes, sure, no problem, or whatever, she responded with such an eye roll look and attitude of "you're a stupid idiot" that it was seriously off putting and offensive. My friend looked at me in shock and laughed (so it wasn't just me) and we left without ordering. Funny enough as we stepped outside I commented to my friend on being blown away by the girl's rudeness, and the lady sitting on the bench eating ice cream interjected that she knew what I was talking about. She'd gotten a bad/unfriendly vibe while being waited on as well. So maybe the ice cream at Scoops is awesome, but I unfortunately wouldn't know since my experience left me with zero desire to...
Read moreIce cream should be served all year round anyway so the fact that they are open in the winter is deserving of 5 stars.
When you walk in, there are about 6 seats so not much for sitting but in the summer, you don't need it but in the winter you can eat in the car I think.
I got two scoops one of chocolate almonds and strawberry. Chocolate almond had sooo many almonds and strawberry had so many almonds. The scoops were so big. It was the perfect amount of ice cream for me. It was decently priced for what I ordered.
The ice cream is out with labels so you can see all the flavors. I think there was at least 20 options to pick from. They also had yogurt too but I didn't have any.
The parking is first come first serve on the street. There are a lot of other places to eat or drink, so it's hit or miss...
